Hello everyone! After a solid hiatus, I am here to bring you part 1 of my multi part Bloodborne series of mods! The theme of this one? Weapons!
In this mod we have 14 melee weapons, 4 ranged weapons, and a stack of 20 blood vials to replenish your stores while on the hunt.
The trick weapons can all be switched from their base mode to the alternate one without using an action, and doing so will give you a status for 1 turn that allows you to make a weapon attack as a bonus action that deals a bit of extra damage. This was the closest I could get to the transformation attacks that exist within Bloodborne, and it works pretty well. All of the transformation animations are the same, with the exception of the Holy Moonlight Sword, because there's actually an animation in BG3 that is perfect for what the blade is shifted in Bloodborne. I didn't add crazy abilities or passives to these weapons, merely a couple of fitting passive effects and scaling that grows as you do. If a weapon is normally versatile in BG3, it is not in this mod, as most weapons in Bloodborne are one handed. Meaning you could dual wield them, but the trick weapon ability gets a little weird sometimes when used while holding two weapons.
What weapons? I'm glad you asked.
Melee Weapons:
- Beast Cutter - unfortunately, whips don't exist in BG3, so this is the only weapon that doesn't have a trick weapon feature in the game, despite having on in Bloodborne. The beast cutter is one of my favorite weapons in Bloodborne though, so I wanted to include it. To that end, I made it a greatsword with reach, so it can smack your foes a bit farther away than normal
- Beasthunter Saif - battleaxe in base form, and a halberd when transformed
- Bloodletter - goes from a mace to a maul that has extra reach, because the transformed Bloodletter is absolutely massive in Bloodborne. As a warning: transforming the Bloodletter deals damage to you just as it does in Bloodborne, so transform with care. It does, however, deal extra necrotic damage when transformed and only hits you once for the health reduction
- Boom Hammer - a weapon that doesn't get enough love in my opinion but doesn't have an alternate form. Instead, when using the trick weapon passive, it will ignite and deal extra fire damage
- Burial Blade - transforms from a longsword to a scythe (halberd)
- Chikage - goes from a longsword to a greatsword. As with the Bloodletter, transforming the Chikage damages you, but unlike the Bloodletter, the Chikage does so every turn. It deals more necrotic damage than the Bloodletter to make up for this, but as in Bloodborne, this is a dangerous weapon to utilize if you aren't paying attention. ***DO NOT UNEQUIP THE TRANSFORMED CHIKAGE** the debuff will continue hurting you every turn, as it is designed to be removed by transforming the weapon back into its base state, otherwise it lasts for 99 turns.
- Holy Moonlight Sword - from a longsword to a greatsword with a ranged attack in greatsword mode, this is the weapon I wanted to add to the game when I started this mod and I went a little overboard
- Hunter Axe - a classic weapon that goes from battleaxe to greataxe
- Kirkhammer - from a longsword to a maul, this is one of my favorite Bloodborne weapons. Stat wise, the transformed state is a greatsword, because of how it is meant to be held in game, but it does in fact deal bludgeoning damage
- Ludwig's Holy Blade - transforms from a longsword to a greatsword
- Rakuyo - alright, this is where things get a little weird. The Rakuyo starts off as a longsword and successfully transforms into a scimitar and a dagger. However, I cannot figure out how to make the game equip both of them when it does the transformation, meaning the scimitar appears in hand, but the dagger plops into your inventory. As a way around this, transforming the Rakuyo will grant you an extra action for the turn you transformed it on. The idea is for you to use that action to equip the dagger and then attack, but obviously you can use it for anything. The scimitar holds the passive ability to shift back to the regular weapon and will successfully remove both the scimitar and dagger from your inventory, whether you're holding the dagger or not. The only issue is when you split it in two and I cannot figure out a fix for this. Sorry.
- Saw Spear - goes from a battleaxe to a greataxe with extra reach
- Threaded Cane - as with the Beast Cutter, I could not implement the whip form of this weapon. Instead, I made the trick weapon ability turn it from a longsword to a rapier, in case you want to smack your foes around while looking fancy
- Tonitrus - another weapon that doesn't get enough love in my opinion, this one is a mace all the time, but the trick weapon ability will cause it to deal extra lightning damage
For the ranged weapons, they are a bit different than your typical BG3 ranged options. In Bloodborne, firearms don't scale with your Dexterity, they grow stronger with Bloodtinge, as the bullets are infused with your blood. To that end, I made all of the firearms in this mod use Constitution, instead of Dexterity when attacking to keep it as close to the source as I can. They're all handcrossbows with very minor differences.
- Evelyn - in Bloodborne, the Evelyn has stronger Bloodtinge scaling than the other firearms, so I made it so not only is Constitution your attack ability for this weapon, but you also add your Constitution modifier to the damage
- Hunter Blunderbuss - I tried to get this one to only shoot in a spread like in game, but wasn't able to. Instead, I made an ability called Scatter Shot that has the same icon as the standard ranged attack so you can manually swap it on your bar to pretend like that's the only way it shoots. The model doesn't look perfect in hand--especially when dual wielding--and there's not much I can do about it. It's held weird, and BG3 doesn't like it.
- Hunter Pistol - ole reliable
- Repeating Pistol - base attacks can pick two targets, or the same target twice
The Blood Vials are just superior healing potions with fancy visuals and descriptions, but otherwise they're just included because they're pretty dang important in Bloodborne if you want to stay alive.
Everything is packaged in a nice container reminiscent of the Bath Messengers from the Hunter's Dream, which can be found in the tutorial chest, Damon's inventory, and in Sorcerous Sundries.

Things I'm sure will be asked:
- Why isn't the Saw Cleaver in this mod? Because @Nevaty made a perfect mod that has this iconic weapon in it, and I wasn't about to step on their toes--especially since it was their mod that taught me how to make the trick weapon ability work. Their mod is here Bloodborne Sawcleaver at Baldur's Gate 3 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)
- Why isn't the Logarius Wheel in here? Because the wheel is for madmen only and I had absolutely no clue how to properly incorporate it
- Will you add other weapons from Bloodborne? Potentially. It's doubtful I'll add the kos parasite or beast claw, but I might add the Blade of Mercy at some point. I couldn't find files for the Whirlagig Saw or Church Pick, which were two I really wanted to put in here, but if I ever manage to track them down, I'll probably make an update
- Why don't the textures look as crisp as some of the other models you've used? I did the best with what I could find. Honestly, the fact that the weapons aren't shapeless blobs is nothing short of luck and a lot of help from the community.
- Will you make more Bloodborne content? Yes. I'm currently testing the second part on this series of mods and beating my head against a wall on the third. If you look in some of the photos, you can see the smallest teaser for one of the future mods I'll be uploading in this series.
