Instead of getting invisible assets, going into CC with a Chroma BG, and dealing with the ingame camera limitations, why not render your stuff with Blender instead? You're already using it to make your meshes anyways...
How?
Import your Mesh
Assign it your texture file on the Materials tab
Assign it your Normal Map and set the Strength you want it to have
Scale down and adjust your Mesh to fit inside the Black Box
Adjust Camera and Lighting as you see fit. Press NumPad0 to enter Camera View and then Shift+' to ender Flying Mode so you can adust your stuff.
Adjust the colours of the Chroma Plane to contrast with different colours from your Texture
Press F12 to Render
It will then render using the Cycles Engine. Disable as much Light Bouncing and Reflections as possible, so it doesn't reflect much of the Chroma colour on your image. It will be rendered at 1920x1080, and then you edit the result to create your icons from there.
