As many other modern games, Avowed is designed with controller in mind and it doesn't even offer the basic walk/run switch to KB&M users (update: walk button was added in patch 1.3.0).
People need to understand: analog controller stick is not having unique properties, PC controls can do the same and even better in terms of precision. KB&M controls feel clunky in modern games not because keyboard and mouse are clunky devices, but just because devs don't want to spend 5 mins to implement them properly (or maybe they don't know how? too used to controllers?).
Requires r457 Mod Loader.
To install unpack the zip file and put r457PlayerMovement.pak/ucas/utoc (three files) into your "[Path To Avowed]\Alabama\Content\Paks\~mods" folder.
Find your Engine.ini, it should be at one of these locations:
C:\Users\[YOUR WIN USER NAME]\AppData\Local\Alabama\Saved\Config\Windows\ (Steam)
C:\Users\[YOUR WIN USER NAME]\AppData\Local\Alabama\Saved\Config\WinGDK\ (Microsoft Store)
[YOUR WIN USER NAME] is your actual windows user name.
Open Engine.ini with notepad. Open r457PlayerMovement.Engine.ini.txt and copy all the lines from there to the end of your Engine.ini. Save. Close. Launch the game. If everything was done correctly, you will see r457PlayerMovement_Actor under the spawned mods list at the top right corner of the screen during shader compilation.
IMPORTANT! Bind your movement keys in vanilla options menu to something you're not using and bind the keys in the ini to WASD (bound already, change accordingly if you're using AZERTY)! And make sure you bind your secondary weapon switch key to something even if you're not using it (obviously, primary one should not be bound to mouse wheel either) - otherwise the game will set it to mouse wheel at the next restart (the same happens with crouch secondary key).
To set up the keys and the speeds exit the game, open your Engine.ini with notepad and edit WalkSpeedMagnitude, SpeedUpKey, ForwardKey, etc parameters. Save. Close. Launch the game.
If you want two speeds instead of three - just set jog magnitude equal to run magnitude.
