Kassandra: Who's a pretty boy?

Phobos (the talking, non-flying horse): Oh for pity's sake.

Ikaros (the talking, non-running eagle): She's not talking to you, old Stewball.

Phobos: Go chase a kite, Mouse Breath. You're not the one with his mane all tied up in
stupid brass cones and having to wear this ridiculous blue harness.

Yah, I know the game is years old, but new for me. I've been playing non-stop for the last month (over 200 hrs). So, I haven't stopped to take any pictures. It's such a beautiful game, but what a lousy photomode. Witcher was better. I just noticed that I don't have Otis_inf's camera for AC Odyssey. Bummer. Well, I guess I'll have to renew my subscription.

Anyways, here's a couple of random bits I grabbed.

This is one of the games I have in my Steam library, waiting for the day when I'm actually going to play them, but I'm notoriously slow when it comes to starting new games. But I will play it. One of these days. I will!

It sounds like you may have the same approach-avoidance conflict that I suffer from before starting a new game. I'd like to play it, but I know there's going to be that learning curve, often steep, that you have to overcome to learn how to play the game. Especially games that were developed for console -- I only play on PC. As it turns out, I only have two hands and 10 fingers (my slow moving brain may also be a hindrance). That can be a real draw back, not to mention being left-handed when all the hot keys are on the left side of the keyboard. Needless to say, my characters are not very good at dodge, roll, slide and slice all at the same time.
That said, I suspect you will enjoy the game. The story is good plus there is a fair share of interesting Greek history included.

I must admit that your description sounds pretty accurate. Starting a new game can often be a terrible ordeal, especially if the game comes with a veritable metric ton of unfamiliar game mechanics and befuddling loops to jump through. Add to that the possibility of modding and bug fixing, and you've got a potential time sink that can mutate into a supermassive black hole. It's easier to procrastinate with a game one's already familiar with, and enjoy the quiet desperation that comes with the frustration of overstaying one's welcome in a game world where there's nothing left to do. Ah, gotta love first world problems. Odyssey's story and history/mythology sound fascinating, so there's a good chance that I'm going to make it to ancient Greece this year. Or in 2025.

Yep, good start. That's what they said when the tour boat of reporters sank in shark infested waters.

LOL Great pic. And your "narrative"........ My stomach hurts   Just because a game is new doesn't mean it's better than a 5- or 10 year old game. The graphics of course. But a good gameplay won't age in the same way

Glad you liked it. The story in this game is very good. That's why I play these games. As you say, the age doesn't matter. GOG just released a new version of FO2, and I believe Bethesda pitched in along with a bevy of modders. So the graphics and game play should mainly be tools to tell the story. Do that first, and the details and beauty of the graphics are secondary.  It doesn't matter how old the game is, if you enjoy the story, and yeah, the characters too, of course.

I generally play these games for the story, and Odyssey doesn't disappoint. It's got an incredible amount of realistic detail, too. As an example, I was impressed to see how busy your boat crew is. Whether you're sailing or in port they are all animated doing something like cleaning the deck or pounding their shields before going into battle.

Great shot.   Just don't do what someone we both know did by jumping into a canal as a shortcut and get run over by a giant barge.   Oh, wait, he was in AC Origins, not Odyssy.   Anyway, glad to hear you're enjoying it and once you get that Otis_inf's camera, looking forward to more screenshots.

Thanks. It's really got a lot of adventure and quests in it  -- too many quests. One of the problems I had with Skyrim also. Some unique things, too, like the sailing and sea battles. I'll send you a clip. It's really amazing. Oh, and you can dress up your crew in different outfits. My crew is wearing bowler hats and suits. :D I made a clip of a storm at sea, it's pretty scary. I found this -- saves me some time . Sea battles.

Thanks. Only a old fart like me would remember Old Stewball. I wasn't a big  PP&M fan, but I did have the album with that song on it.

It's really a nice game, I loved it even though it's older. For me one of the best in this series. Have fun playing Laird. Kassandra is a great character.

I picked it up during a Steam sale. It seems that I picked the best of the series. I'm enjoying it and played Alexios in my first playthrough, but yeah I like Kassandra a lot.

I put it aside after the first release, whatever that was called. But, this game has been fun with a good story.

I've never gone past the 2nd stage. Beginning is great, then it just feels like a bit of a slog to me. It is a beautiful game though, perhaps I'll give it another go..

Like Skyrim there are way too many useless side quests. I'm trying to concentrate only on the main story this playthrough. Much better.
