This was posted on Aliens:Fireteam Elite official Discord yesterday regarding mods. I suggest if you are using mods to give the developers respectful feedback about this stance. I included full text of the post below.
Cold Iron - 2021 Everyone is forced into silos developing assets, unconnected to the project creatively! CEO/ Management continues to kill any expectations of designing a real game as they are the "be-all end-all. "They're also quick to flaunt their incredibly talented staff; most who have fled, hyped up through their website and to their stakeholders but on the inside,...never leverages the team's collective experience, instincts or professional advice to forge ahead in crafting what could've been an amazing project! Hiding behind the team's reputation and exceptional list of past AAA titles, management is bizarrely compelled to develop around this minimum viable product metric with everything they do and then, force these mindsets onto developers creating sheer frustration at every corner.
Common theme played out,. CEO and managers struggle with how to make a title of this kind even though others have made versions of these games ten times over and they apparently care less what anyone says or fail to ACT on suggestions. Feedback is given on email threads that rarely ever gets noticed and rigged surveys are arranged to keep the hard subject matter off the radar where design is concerned.
Studio already had an exodus of developers leave but nothing has improved thus far as we're stuck on this path of designing mediocre quality play test demos! This also due in part of poor production practices also managed horribly! The attitude from the top is "build it first" and then figure out design later; turning the entire quest for development.
There's nothing respectful about their feedback, nevermind the lead devs have a 20 years history of ignoring feedback which caused them to be removed from Star Trek Online.
They're simply going to erode the playerbase even further by fixing a "problem" that doesn't even actually exist. Small wonder the game is down to less than 2000 players across three platforms.
