A blast from the past! This skin for the F-4E Phantom II is a recreation of the liveries worn by the very first F-4's in United States Air Force service; back before they were even called Phantoms.
Some may not know, but the F-4E Phantom II was originally going to be designated the "F-110 Spectre" by the USAF. However, in 1962 the two separate naming schemes used by the Air Force and Navy were scrapped for a single unified designation system - therefore, the Naval F4H and the USAF F-110 simply became known as the F-4.

This F-4E skin uses the color scheme of the very first F-110s / F-4Cs (glossy gull gray over white) with a large ACC emblem on the tail, complete with an old-school Air Force "buzz code" on the bottom near the exhaust nozzles. Buzz codes did not denote the aircraft's home base, but rather the type of aircraft being flown ("FJ" in this case indicates it's an F-4).
Maintenance markings were also redone nearly completely in the old "open stencil" Futura-font style - I used real photo references and 1960s-era NAVAIR documents to determine size, color, and placement. Access doors, instructional markings, nearly the whole lot. Of course there will be some discrepancies, since the F-4E has an extended nose and the "Agile Eagle" leading edge slats, but I got pretty close, I think.
BLANK:
- Blank slate. For skin slots 1, 2, and 3.
TRIGGER:
- Custom OADF markings for Trigger depicting his time in Mage, Spare, and Strider squadron throughout the Lighthouse War. For skin slots 4, 5, and 6.
As with my previous skins, textures use BC7 compression with mipmaps disabled to improve in-game quality. Let me know what you think and if you encounter any bugs.
