Made by modders, for the community."

"What is a "Vanilla" template?"


Without going into "infamous" or literal terms of the word, "Vanilla Template" is a term used to describe a light grey or white aircraft/vehicle texture without paintschemes, highlights, or camouflages. Expert skin makers with a well knowledge of Photoshop, GIMP, or their most used graphical design software aside of a lot of patience can create Vanilla Templates at your own by isolating details using the original textures of the game and tools of their software.
Vanilla Templates are well known in PC game modding scenarios like the Flight Simulator series(FS2004, FSX, FS2020), DCS World and derivates, IL:2 Sturmovik, and War Thunder, made by modders with the main focus in helping people to get more quality on their own skins.

This is a joint project made by Rythus and Sunrest along with other expert users that participated before, the main goal is at having ALL the Ace Combat 7 aircraft roster with a vanilla template(modded aircraft not included, brief exceptions are some VISMODs by popular demand), is expected that users would be going at Codename VANILLA if they would want to update their skins. along we have the knowledge people worked on their own vanilla templates and distributed on personal communities for making their skins, Codename VANILLA doesn't cover those other templates as we focus working on our current library and details which may differ, you may became interesed at asking permission to other users for their own details if you manage to get the permission, but Codename VANILLA focus is mostly "having the basis available"
