This is the first version.
In an alternate timeline, the scientists who created Grace accidentally created a new virus that infected animals. It turned out to be highly contagious and caused any animal infected to transform into a chicken. However, all their other animal characteristics seemed to stay the same, so while they looked like a chicken, they were just as dangerous as before. Even the animals who are normally non-hostile became aggressive!
A PSA has been issued to all survivors to beware of chickens. Hopefully they get it... and take it seriously!
