About this mod

This is the famous Vanilla Firearms Extended by Skyriss, fixed and updated with his authorization.

Permissions and credits
Welcome for another off chart mod from me. Well, this one is from Sykriss, and I am fixing it since long ago, testing in game features and diverse settings to see how it behaves. I received his authorization to publish it there this morning.

Note to everyone :
Uploaded some screenshots as asked by sirdano35, the clipping issues are from vanilla (tested with only Marksman Rifle but...), unfortunately, but are only visible in third person, only accessible by developer mode, so you won't get to see those issues, and weapons are perfectly fine in first person. You may see them on your server buddies, but hey, this game is in alpha stage, devs are going to make all boobs giggle instead, we should be happy (sarcasm intensifies).

What did I fixed ?

Oh Jesus... this question... is so hard to answer to... I fixed so many things that I forgot exactly what and when. But :
Spoiler:
Show
A21 version :
- Almost (80%) all weapons alignement on the Iron Sights grid view, both normal and Red Dot Reflex Sight (scopes are automatically aligned if IS are) ;
- All loot, progression system, trader containers, recipes... ;
- Rebalanced damage and rate of fire for almost all guns ;
- Single Shotgun was jaming after firing because its fire rate was only 1, one shot guns that have 1 fire rate will always jam after A19 due to changes in the Unity system the developers made ;

A19 version :
- Some weapons had dependencies on a perk, but were unlocked by another perk (AK74u was unlocked by Gunslinger, but depended on Machine Gunner for example) ;
- Loot for ammo wasn't that balanced, you found twice as 7.62mm than the new 5.56mm ammo, I fixed that ;
- Loot for guns has been fixed too, quest included ;
- All weapons were unlock by a level one perk, even Tier 3 ones, so I fixed it, as some of the unlocked weapons may be too powerful for level perk unlocking ;
- Fixed sound bugs, and some other technical issues ;
- Fixed damage values for some Tier 2 and 3 weapons that were too low for my taste (I mean technically it's "bonus damage" but that's too technical) ;
- Fixed rewards to include more or less ammo, and quest tier relative weapon (no Benelli Super 90 for a tier 1 digging quest you silly go work to deserve it !) because sometimes you got a little stack of mod ammo, where in vanilla you get 120 7.62mm or 300 9mm so I fixed the values ;
- Fixed passive effects for most random values like damage, clip size or durability to go with my Little Tweaks mod ;
- Fixed traders inventories where probabilities and numbers were a little low for guns or too high for some ammo, uniformized the ranks of available weapons to vanilla levels, added missing schematics and guns in the right groups and moved weapons from wrong groups into the good ones, removed duplicates in selling lists ;
- Fixed names in the progression file that where keyboard mistakes and made some weapons not unlocked by their corresponding perk ;
- Fixed recipes where tags, gun parts, and other materials where not the right ones ;
- Optimized code to reduce clutter and empty lines and commented to organize better for those who would want to look into.

As other of my mods, if you are reading this, and you are German, Russian, Spanish Portuguese Italian... Korean, Vietnamese, Turkish, whatever your country, you can help me by sending me the translated lines if you wish to be credited for your help.

Known Issues as of A21 version :
- USP45 and one other gun that I don't remember are white, since the A18 version in fact ;
- Varmint and Sporting Rifles use Lever Action Rifle animations because since the Unity update of the game, the hunting rifle handling and animation are offset backwards for 1 meter/1.5 ft or so, I know it needs Unity to fix that and I was learning how to use Unity software. I have trouble finding time to continue steadily the learning though. (If anybody impatient wants to help fixing it, I will gladly take the help, upload the file and give due credit for it on this page) ;
- Revolvers are a little wonky, and the Reflex Sight is somewhat BIG looking on them, but it is functional ;
- All weapons have delayed reload animations so the organs are sliding after the hand took them, otherwise functional ;
- All weapons use the old models for attachements, because it needs a Unity update for them to use the new system the dev' team developed, so this will take more time for me to do it, same time constraint applies for me.

Updates History :

A21 updates :

01/04/2024 :
Uploaded the same patch I uploaded in the Display Menu Framework mod page, because I might be an idiot, and thought they would be better placed there, when in fact they belong in VFE mod page instead. Because it's more logical that way, so here they are ready to be downloaded.
12/27/2023 : Hotfix for 1.2.5 missing a translation key in french for SKS, and for Single Shotgun that was highly bugged. This need the main file, so just merge the hotfix with the main folder in your mods folder and you're good to go.
12/21/2023 : 1.2.5 :
- Updated for A21 with all due fixes applied. New icons for ammo are on the way. Tables to show all characteristics of ammo and weapons are being made for new players to see rapidly what does what. And after that, I will MAYBE do some content updates, new ammo type to fit russian guns for example or whatever I am judging to be cool additions, but this won't be soonish as the A22 is arriving fast, and depending on what the game is becoming and what happens in my life, I may just choose to drop the mod as it is, and update the code to fit the ne code updates made by the developers.
- This new file already contains my Weapon Display Menu Framework, so the code optimization I developed is working fine. If anything seems to go off for you just report a bug so I can see what's the problem and come back to you.
- I might be working on a compatibility patch with the Picture in Picture Scope from JustAlterr. At least I began watching his files to know how would I do such a patch for VFE to work with it. I will keep you guys tuned on the issue.
- If needed I can make a Darkness Falls patch for compatibility but I would need to download it so I can look at the files, so anyone tell me if it is needed.

- 1.2.3 :
Finally ! I successfully fixed the 9mm Chiappa M1-9 Carbine and 9mm Varmint Rifle, that were not shooting properly due to a missing tag Sykriss forgot and that I had completely missed. Now when you shoot those 2 rifles, zombies will take full amount of damage, they also are more precise on further distances. Also fix minor tag issues for which you will probably not see any difference but needed to be done. Keep me aware of any other problems or bugs you may encounter. Also an important thing. Yes I removed the auto reload of the Sporting Rifle and Varmint Rifle so they have the same mechanic as the Hunting Rifle from vanilla and do not slow you by auto reloading if you are in a bad situation.
-  1.2.1 : Updated the M1-9 Carbine, because I forgot to make it a right rifle, now it gives rifle parts when recycled, and have, I hope, a proper precision and recoil, according to what I saw on the Internet for it. (It seems to represent the Chiappa M1-9 Carbine in 9x19mm Parabellum, which is a semi automatic italian carbine). Sykriss did not derived from a rifle class to create it so it had the machine gun characteristics instead. I fixed that, finally. Also fixed the 9mm rifle, the Varmint Rifle, at least partially.
09/19/2021 : Uploaded a patch done by an unknown author for the Pictures in Picture Optics overhaul mod. Instruction to make them works all three together are just below. If you are the author of this patch please give me a shout and tell me what is your account name so I can give you due credits for this. My thanks to emporssolder for bringing this to my attention.
09/14/2021 : Darkness Falls patch uploaded in optional files.
09/12/2021 : 1.2 :
- French : Correction de quelques erreurs en français (fautes de frappe le plus souvent).
- Fixes some tag issues with mostly automatic and non automatic rifles. There were some missing parameters for book collections, or bad tags used in place of the rights ones that I missed the first few times when testing and reading code.
- Adding english translation (Yay ! Finally !)(Yes I'm sorry for taking this long). Normally you will be able to read funny descriptions on some weapons and some easter eggs. There might some grammatical mistakes on some idioms and even some fatigue-induced ones (like wrong word in one line even though I used the right word in the same line two items later...), please english speakers if you see some, tell me so I can fix them.
- Includes ALL translations available to this day.
08/16/2021 : 1.1 : Fixed a missing integration of class extension for ammo crafting. Added simplified chinese localization as a bonus.
08/15/2021 : 1.0 : First Release.

Instructions for using the PiP Optics overhaul mod with VFE and the patch :
The PiP mod has to be before VFE. The author called it just "Main" so give it a name you like to know what is this mod (because "main" is not very helpful) and put an A before in the name, example : "A Picture in Picture Optics" and it will be placed before my "A Vanilla Firearms Extended" and won't break. Then put the patch after both of them. Just let the name I gave as it is and it won't break.

Languages :
- French by me (obviously :D)
- English by me (well...)
- Simplified chinese by wyh1346 - thank you !
- Japanese by ShachikuMacksan - thank you !

Full credits for the wonderful mod to Sykriss once more, I just fixed the problems to upgrade the quality of his mod.
