About this mod

Do you play with Xyth's Mechs Pack with a health bar mod like Sirillion's SMX series offers? I'm sure you've noticed that the mechs show up in the health bar as "mechRobot" instead of "Rogue Messiah Bot." Well look no further to change those pesky names! Now, lore has been established for the mechs, bosses exist and each mech has been renamed!

Introduction to Shotgun Messiah's Failed Commission
(Mechs Don't Spawn In Shotgun Messiah POIs...yet)

EXPANSIVE LORE: SHOTGUN MESSIAH MECHS

Months before the zombie apocalypse took over the world and much of the human population with it, titan company Shotgun Messiah was doing everything it could to thrive as a company, survive and ward off the undead. To this end, they commissioned six different mechs as a last resort to protect their company, their assets and maybe their employees if they were lucky.

Despite their efforts, it seemed for naught, as they clearly failed with hordes of zombies taking over the world, some of which have gone way beyond decaying and radiation to this day. Now, months, if not years after it all started, the ones that survived are starting to see machines that fight like us, but the thing is? They're coming after us.

Whatever Shotgun Messiah's CEOs had commissioned, they are starting to break free from what we can only assume are the factories. We have yet to confirm how they are getting out, but just when we thought the walkers were too much to handle, now this shit is kicking our ass.

INTRODUCTION

Into hours of playing 7 Days to Die and diving into the vast modding community between Nexus Mods, Guppy's Modding Server Discord, the official forum, the 7 Days to Die official mod launcher and the official website dedicated to mods for the game, I decided to use Sirillion's entire SMX series. His modlets overhaul the UI of 7 Days to Die, which make changes to the HUD, Menu and general UI. I realized sometime later that my favorite modlet of this series was his optional, Target Health Bar, designed for compatibility with his UI overhaul.

After playing 7 Days to Die with a full list of modlets including the SMX series, I quickly realized that some animals, zombies, machines, etc. would show up in the health bar from the Target Health Bar modlet as "mechRobot" and "mechRobotArmy" instead of "Rogue Messiah Bot" and "Shotgun Messiah Boss" while using Xyth's Mechs Creature Pack. I slowly began writing my creature renaming modlet series that now currently spans six different modlet patches. With the intent to increase immersiveness when encountering different creatures in game, each modlet is now publicly available as separate downloads.

UPDATE

In version 1.3.2, I have hidden three items (gunMechJunkDrone, gunBotRustyDrone and GunBotBeeDrone) from the creative menu added by this mod, as they have no immersive names, no images or any appearances in-game. In other words, unless your a modder, they are of no use and should be in the developer portion of the creative menu.

I'm also laying the foundation for mech spawning with an empty entitygroups.xml and spawning.xml. Eventually I hope to make mechs spawn primarily at the Shotgun Messiah Factories, stores, shops etc.

HEALTH BAR DEPENDENCIES

Before deciding to install any of my renaming modlets, you must first have to have a Health Bar modlet to see the name changes. Fortunately, whether you use the launcher or Nexus Mods, you do have a couple of options. See below:

Nexus Mods: Sirillion's SMX Series Target Health Bar
7 Days to Die Forum: Khaine's HP Bars
Nexus Mods: KonradSB's Hit Bar Health Bar

It's worthy to note that if you are using the Mod Launcher, you can install all of Sirillion's SMX series of modlets there. That said, once you have installed one of the health bar modlets, you must then install Xyth's creature pack modlet Mechs Creature Pack to make this modlet's renaming to work.

SHOTGUN MESSIAH MECHS DEPENDENCY

Shotgun Messiah Mechs is dependent on one of Xyth's creature pack modlets titled, Mechs Creature Pack. You must install that in order for this modlet's features to take affect. See Xyth's links below:

SHOTGUN MESSIAH MECHS

Shotgun Messiah Mechs was originally built off the premise of Vanilla Creature Renaming, with it's original iteration designed solely to rename creatures added by Xyth's Mechs Creature Pack and was the last renaming modlet in the series that renamed creatures added by Xyth's packs.

Now, this modlet not only renames six mechs from Xyth's Creature Pack Mechs, but it also doubles the health for select bots making them bosses, it changes the name of the mod from Creature Pack Mechs Renaming to Shotgun Messiah Mechs, it creates lore for the mechs and it sets up for a multitude of update possibilities in the future such as quests, special POI spawning etc.

Each machine, mech and/or robot from Xyth's Mechs Creature Pack needing renamed from name type similar to "mechDrone" have been replaced with an immersive counterpart. Specifically, there are six different mechs that are added to the game by Xyth's pack including a small killer tech bee, a big drone and a couple bots.

I found Xyth's Creature Pack series to add some most needed diversity to 7 Days to Die in terms of additional zombies, animals, humans and even mechanical entities if that's your fancy! To this end, Vanilla Creature RenamingCreature Pack Animal RenamingCreature Pack Zombie Renaming, Creature Pack Human Renaming and now Shotgun Messiah Mechs closes the gap for immersion. SHOTGUN MESSIAH MECHS FUTURE UPDATES

I plan on eventually implementing a way to make mechs spawn at the Shotgun Messiah Factories and Shotgun Messiah shops in some way, shape or form. Currently, all images shown in this showcase represent what I'd like to do with this mod with future iterations, as currently mechs will randomly spawn in most biomes.

There is also a possibility that either by myself or through some collaborative effort that through a future update, quests could be created to go along with the lore that has been established for the mechs. This could be in the works in the long haul, however for now, this will be put on the back burner.

RENAMING "PATCHES" EVENTUAL EXPANSION

I will eventually create new modlets to patch names for creatures from other mod authors, to further increase immersiveness for players. If you have a mod you use a lot that has name types like "mechSphereII," feel free to suggest it and I will consider it for my next renaming mod!

Potential Renaming Ideas: Snufkin's Server Side ZombiesMickkPewPew’s Server Side Santa and Friends, and MickkPewPew’s Server Side Zombies and Bosses.

UNNECESSARILY BEAUTIFUL BUT IMMERSIVE

With original mod author, Hernan's permission, I present Unnecessarily Beautiful But Immersive, the Unnecessary But Beautiful 19.3 Rebuild.

You can now craft recipes with ease, use a wire tool to turn on lights, TVs, PCs, a fireplace and a sound bar, attain the right perks to craft the lights, unlock lights early with a schematic, use beds as bedrolls, disassemble select crafted items with the wrench line of tools and more!

If it wasn't for discussion, guidance and help getting started from other mod authors in Guppy's Discord like wrathmaniacTSBXXythMumpfysphereiiSirillionsaminalKhainechiko and Guppy himself, none of this would have been possible.
