Because 5 pieces of meat shouldn’t turn into 1 steak.
Let’s be honest: grilling one piece of meat in 7 Days to Die shouldn’t cost five chunks of raw meat. That’s not survival logic, that’s wasteful crafting. The same goes for charred meat, chili dogs, stews, and other meals. The math just didn’t add up.
The base game assumes unrealistic ratios and stacks on passive perk effects that reduce ingredient costs even further. With enough perk levels, you could end up crafting full meals with barely any resources. Fun? Maybe. Realistic or balanced? Not at all.
What This Mod FixesCorsaro’s Realistic Meat Recipes is a small XML mod that rewrites the logic:
- Grilled, charred, and boiled meat now require 1 raw meat, not 5.
- Complex recipes like chili dogs, bacon & eggs, and meat stew require less meat.
- Perk bonuses are rebalanced to reduce ingredients by 1 at most.
- Respects survival realism
- Keeps perks useful but realistic
- Adds immersion for players who care about resource management
Give it a try, and let me know what you think.
