About this mod

This sheet provides you with an interactive overview of matching stations. Of course it also helps in general to find the best stations you want to trade with or simply to check the production and consumption of a station.

Permissions and credits
[Update 1.1] now includes a ware finder. Select a Ware in J2 and you'll see all stations that either buy the
ware or have an x amount of production units to produce it.

XR Station Match Finder

The mass traffic in XR is a new feature that allows automatic trade between stations in a zone. Since there are mostly only two available build locations in a zone, one would be wise to choose stations that have the most matches in common regarding the buying and selling of wares. Especially for beginners it is somewhat difficult and time consuming to choose the right station combination.

What it does:

This Excel sheet provides you with an overview of matching stations. Of course it also helps in general to find the best stations you want to trade with or simply to check the production and consumption of a station.

How it works:

1. Have at least Excel 2007 ready for all the features. Not sure what will happen if you use an older version. Most likely you won’t see coloured rankings and such.

2. Choose a station in B1 (either type in the name or choose from the dropdown list).

3. Don’t change the values anywhere else, just scroll down to see all numbers for each station. Especially don’t use the enter key to get down to other lines or you will most likely mess up some of the matrices. If anything stops working please don’t blame me - I bet ctrl+z will do the trick

What will you see?

In column B and C is a brief overview of the sold and bought wares of your selected station (nothing about prices or other information though - that’s not the purpose of this chart …yet).
D and E will tell you about all the matching stations in a ranking to which your selected station can either sell or buy from. The numbers shown here only consider different wares so, for example, if your station needs energy cells it will show that it has only one match with the energy array (Column D or G18). If you want to compare the efficiency/capacity too you can do that in column I, which basically takes account of the amount of production units (PU) of a station. So the number at the position of the energy array in terms of “selling x PU” will be 4 (I18). However, it should be noted that there could be several reasons why the amount of PU doesn’t make a trade with a particular station more worthy. For example, the product might not be high in demand or the ware itself might just be too unprofitable to waste a build location on its production.

An example:

Let’s say you want to build a URV BTO Line somewhere in DV and now you are looking for a suitable station in the same zone. Just go to B1 and choose the URV BTO Line from the list and column D and E will tell you that one good option would be to combine it with a URV Parts Supply.

What it can’t do:

Plenty, I’m sure…
… it doesn’t show you your individual setup, so no customised sequence combinations or specialists that might increase or decrease your station’s abilities. However, it shouldn’t be too hard to add your own stations to the station list. If you find my work useful, I might find a convenient way to put in this feature at some point in the future. There could also be an issue with intermediate wares which are displayed but in fact might not be traded in the mass traffic. If that’s the case, well, I can’t help it.

The wares were mostly copied from Roguey’s site and ZonedOut’s station.txt– thanks to both of you! XR SMF in combination with their work should make it really easy now to find good building strategies for beginners.
