About this mod
Retools aspects of the Ranger class to better balance it overall and make melee-centric builds more viable while maintaining game balance.
- Permissions and credits
Where other mods try to address issues with the sword as a secondary weapon by breaking aspects of XCOM 2's design (such as making blades provide garunteed damage), this mod attempts to to give players enough reward out of using the blade to warrant taking on risks associated with it, such as accidental pod activation or missing.
Changes
- Blademaster now allows sword strikes to ignore 2 points of enemy armor in addition to the +2 points of base damage it provides.
- Implacable and Shadowstrike have had their positions swapped, allowing for some level of risk mitigation in the early game while also slightly delaying the rate at which the stealth/shotgun Ranger spec becomes more powerful.
- Reaper has had its cooldown reduced from 5 turns to 3 to make up for the risk of pod activation and the diminishing returns on damage it causes.
- Arc Blades have had their base damage increased by +1 above vanilla. Fusion Blades have had their damage increased by +2.
NOTE: This mod modifies an existing template from X2Ability_RangerAbilitySet.uc and may or may not be compatible with any mods that override that file. This mod has NOT been designed to work with existing campaigns (Sorry!), and as such has not been tested with a pre-existing saves.
