About this mod

Soldier Bootcamp adjusts Not Created Equally and Class assignment based on their stats.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
The Second Wave options are great for adding some spice and character to the game, but there isn't a lot of rational control over the output of the randomizer.

Soldier Bootcamp attempts to keep some character in your soldiers while maintaining some semblance of usefulness on average, and make their class assignment based more on their stats. No more snipers with 55 Aim.

These mods are designed for XCOM : Enemy Within and not for the Long War mod. It also requires UPKUtils / PatcherGUI to install.

There are a few separate mods that make up Soldier Bootcamp:

-=[ Soldier Bootcamp - Not Created Equally ]=-

Soldiers start out with Default Rookie Movement, Default Rookie Aim +/- 10 and Default Rookie Will +/-5. In addition, they have a chance at an additional modifier

10%: 6 point or 1 mv hit to two stats (not double movement)
10%: 6 point or 1 mv hit to one stat
20%: 5 point hit to aim/will and 5 point bonus to the other
10%: 5 point or 1 mv bonus to one stat
10%: 5 point or 1 mv bonus to two stats (double movement is allowed)

-=[ Soldier Bootcamp - Stat Based Class Selection ]=-

This mod does two things.

First it changes the class selection criteria to use the soldier's Aim and Movement statistics to set
a range of valid classes.
- Snipers favor high aim and moderate movement.
- Heavies favor high aim and movement.
- Assaults favor higher movement
- Support favors movement and moderate aim.

The default tendency to always require the 4 classes be the first four assignments is also removed.

A sanity check is performed during the class selection, based on the total size of the barracks (including SHIVs), in which certain class selections in the list may be removed from that Rookie's possibly options if there's an over abundance of that class. Some aim/movement options only result in one choice though, so that rookie will be stuck with that class irrespective of barracks complement.

In addition, stats for reward soldiers (like those you get as a mission reward) will favor stats appropriate to that class and are generally not terrible. This does not include the DLC soldiers, Zhang, Durand and Durand's Posse.

-=[ Soldier Bootcamp - DLC Soldiers ]=-

There's three versions of this mod. ONLY RUN ONE OF THESE AT A TIME!

Hardcoded Movement: The movement stat on the DLC Soldiers (Zhang and Durand and her posse) is hard coded. Normally their stats are randomly rolled and then mostly overloaded with specific stats. Movement is the only noticeable item that gets randomly set. This just makes them consistent. By default that movement is 13. There's directions inside the mod file for changing it if you want them to have move 12 (the default movement).

Random Stats: Their stats are randomly generated just like a normal reward soldiers (like you would get from an abduction mission). If you're not using the other Bootcamp mods, this means they'll all start with basic Rookie stats, or worse the default NCE stats.

Random Stats and Class: Same as Random Stats, except their class will also be randomized as if they were a reward soldier (like from an abduction mission)
