The Witcher 3

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS INFORMATION BEFORE POSTING QUESTIONS! There are 57 total toggle switches and sliders in this configuration menu, so it is important you understand what each of them do to get the configuration you want.

LOAD PRESETS

To load your selected preset, toggle ON whichever one you wish to use (make sure to only have ONE picked at a time) then close the menu (if you're in a game) or load a game (if you're in the main menu). This implementation hopes to eliminate the limitation of the "preset" buttons that cannot change values on other setting pages.

Load "Herbs Only" Preset: Loads settings for the "AutoLoot Herbs" version (AutoLoot only "plant" containers)
Load "Corpses Only" Preset: Loads settings for the "AutoLoot Corpses" version (AutoLoot all items from dead bodies)
Load "Herbs and Corpses" Preset: Loads settings for the previous two configurations to work simultaneously
Load "Containers With One Item" Preset: Loads settings to AutoLoot containers that only have one item
Load "Valuable Gear Only" Preset: Loads settings to AutoLoot Armor, Weapons, and Runes/Glyphs with value of 500 gold or more
Load "Weightless Items" Preset: Loads settings to AutoLoot only items that have no weight

SETTINGS

Enable AutoLoot Mod: Enables the core AutoLoot functionality (must be ON if you want it to work!)
Use Filters (Off Loots Everything): Enables the use of filtering, to only loot certain items. If you turn this on, make sure to set your filters up after loading the defaults; if every filter is off and this is ON, you won't loot anything. If this is turned OFF, you will loot everything (aside from quest items).
Matching Criteria (For Enabled Filters): This sets the conditions for matching your chosen filters
  • Match ANY Filters: Loots an item/container if it meets at least 1 filter you have enabled
  • Match ALL Filters: Loots an item/container ONLY if it meets EVERY filter you have enabled.
  • IMPORTANT: Use Match ALL Filters only if you want a VERY specific set of items. You can unintentionally break the logic by using this setting and selecting filters that will never share qualities. Example: Enabling the Herb Filter, along with the Quantity Filter setting at >=10 -- no plant will ever have 10x items in it, so you will never loot anything.
No Accidental Stealing: If set to ON, disables looting if taking an item would be considered stealing
Disable Stealing Mechanic: If set to ON, disables the "stealing" mechanic from the game (this overrides the No Accidental Stealing option)
Loot Enemies When Killed: Enables automatically looting your kills
  • IMPORTANT: If Use Filters is set to ON, make sure to have at least one filter set, otherwise you will not loot anything from your kills -- looting kills still follows all filters and settings in the menu!
Force Quest Container Looting: Overrides the safety check to force picking up loot from quest containers
  • IMPORTANT: Some cut-scenes may be skipped if you AutoLoot a quest container. I recommend leaving this setting OFF unless you are having issues looting chests underwater (in which case you should temporarily enable it, then turn it back OFF)
Reset All Settings (Close Menu/Load Game To Take Effect): Resets everything in the menu to their default settings. If you toggle this to ON, you must close the menu (if you are in a game) or load a game (if you're in the main menu) for it actually to take effect.

CONTAINER FILTERS

A quick note about container filters -- if you have selected the Match ALL Filters mode, enabling these filters will restrict the rest of your filter settings to ONLY containers that meet these criteria. My suggestion is to use these filters sparingly unless you only want to loot things out of bodies or plants; or have a specific number of items that you just always want to loot, like automatically loot containers with one item.

These settings are only used if you have Use Filters set to ON.

Herb Filter (Checks if "Container" is a Plant): Adds a condition for plants ("containers" considered to be "herbs" as well as plants in non-herb containers)
Corpse Filter (Checks if "Container" is a Corpse): Adds a condition for dead bodies ("containers" considered to bodies)
Quantity Filter (Checks # of Items in Container): Adds a condition for the amount of DIFFERENT items in the container
  • IMPORTANT: This is NOT the same as the item counts (Crowns x20, for example)
Number of Items (Threshold for Comparisons): The number of items to check against the amount in the container with your comparison criteria
Quantity Comparison Mode: Sets how to compare the container item count to the threshold set above
  • Less Than/Exactly (<= Threshold): Loot only if the amount of items in the container is less than or equal to the threshold
  • Exactly (= Threshold): Loot only if the amount of items in the container is exactly the threshold
  • More Than/Exactly (>= Threshold): Loot only if the amount of items in the container is more than or equal to the threshold

ITEM FILTERS

The item filters, unlike the container filters, affect individual items. This allows for automatically taking things out of containers that you're always going to take -- for example, Currency Filter -- and allow you to still choose the rest of the items to loot.

These settings are only used if you have Use Filters set to ON.

Armor Filter: Adds a condition to check if the item is considered to be Armor
Weapon Filter: Adds a condition to check if the item is considered to be a Weapon
Upgrade Filter (Glyph/Rune/Mutagen): Adds a condition to check if the item is considered to be an Upgrade (Glyph, Rune, or Mutagen)
Food and Drink Filter: Adds a condition to check if the item is considered to be food/drink (not the same as consumable, certain non-food related items are not-so-intuitively considered consumable, so this excludes them)
Formula Filter (Schematics/Recipes): Adds a condition to check if the item is a an alchemy recipe or crafting schematic
Readable Filter (Books, Notes, Maps, etc.): Adds a condition to check if the item is considered "Readable" -- this includes the listed items as well as paintings. This filter excludes the items picked up by the Formula filter. Basically, this filter picks up anything you can look at in your "Books" tab.
Ingredient Filter (Crafting and Alchemy Items): Adds a condition to check if the item is used in any recipes/schematics. The will will also pick up junk that can be broken down into crafting components (it does a breakdown check to look at it's components). This is to avoid leaving behind especially useful items like pelts, furs, and precious metal junk (like silverware).
Currency Filter (Crowns/Florens/Orens): Adds a condition to check if the item is a form of currency
Not Junk Filter (Leaves Items Considered to be "Junk"): Adds a condition to check if the item is NOT considered to be junk
Weight Filter (Checks the Item Weight): Adds a condition to check the weight of the item
Weight (Threshold for Comparisons): The desired weight to check against the item weight
Weight Comparison Mode: Sets how to compare the item weight to the threshold set above
Value Filter (Checks the Item Price): Adds a condition to check how much the item is worth
Value (Threshold for Comparison): The desired value to check against the item value
Value Comparison Mode: Sets how to compare the item value to the threshold set above
Quality Filter: Adds a condition to check the quality of the item
Quality (Threshold for Comparison): The desired quality to check against the item quality; options are
  • Common (White)
  • Master (Blue)
  • Magic (Yellow)
  • Relic (Orange)
  • Witcher (Green)
Quality Comparison Mode: Sets how to compare the item quality to the threshold set above

RADIUS LOOTING

Allow In Combat: Allows Radius Looting to pick up items in combat
Distance to Search for Loot*: Sets the distance to check out to for containers to loot (this is separate from the True AutoLoot Mode setting below)
Maximum Containers to Loot at Once*: Sets the maximum amount of containers to loot at once (also separate from True AutoLoot Mode)

* NOTE: You may see slight stutters if you put both of these settings to their maximum amounts. I've done my best to optimize this, but somewhere extremely populated with loot like the Novigrad market may cause these stutters.

TRUE AUTOLOOT MODE

This mode will automatically search for loot, as a sort of auto-pilot/hands-free looting mode (hence "True AutoLooting"). It is quite useful if you're clearing a new area or dungeon that has not been explored yet -- I find myself spending more time searching/pick up loot than actually clearing these places and fighting bosses (arguably this is one of the main features of an RPG though lol).

Use True AutoLoot Mode: Enables the True AutoLoot feature (hands-free looting). The hotkey binding toggles this setting. By default, this setting is turned off when you load the game (this is done as a performance/safety measure).
Begin Searching When Game Starts/Loads: Allows this feature to begin at startup. For those that want to keep True AutoLoot Mode running at all times, make sure this is ON.
Allow In Combat: Allows True AutoLoot Mode to search for and loot items in combat
Searching Frequency (seconds): Sets how often this mode will search for loot. Please note that settings this to a very low number will override your notification display if you find subsequent loot (for example, if you want notifications to display for 5 seconds, and you find something else in 2 seconds, the second notification will display)
Distance to Search for Loot: Sets the distance to check out to for containers to loot (this is a separate setting from Radius Looting)
Maximum Containers to Loot at Once: Sets the maximum amount of containers to loot at once (also a separate setting from Radius Looting)

* NOTE: You may see slight stutters if you put both of these settings to their maximum amounts. I've done my best to optimize this, but somewhere extremely populated with loot like the Novigrad market may cause these stutters.

NOTIFICATIONS

Enable Loot Notifications: Enables notification for loot that has been automatically picked up
Use Loot Sound: Enables the sound when automatically taking loot from a container
Hide Notifications Until Combat Ends: This will suppress notifications while you are in combat (for example, if you have True AutoLoot Mode on), then it will merge everything into one lump notification as soon as you leave combat (this will have the header "Received in Combat:"
Use Notification Header: Enables the "Received:" line displayed before the loot you picked up with this mod
Use Item Images: Displays a small icon before the item name in loot notifications (this is the same icon that is displayed in your iventory)
Use Item Descriptions: Displays a small caption after the item name in loot notifications (this is the same caption as the tooltip in your inventory menu)
Display Time (seconds): Sets how long to display the notification on screen
Extra Display Time Per Item (milliseconds): Sets how how much extra time to show the notification (multiplied by # of items looted)
Notification Font Size: Changes the size of the font in the notification window (default size is 24)
Show Quantities: Enables showing the multiplier and number (ex. Crowns x20) in the loot notification
Use Item Colors: Enables colors of item names in the notification for items above "Common" quality

Edit: I think found the solution.

The problem with "any filter" is that if I let Search bodies filter: ON, and the weapons comes from body, then mod will not look at other filters because it found the matching filter (yes, ANY MATCHING FILTER means really anything what is filter), thus it will not evaluate the filters for quality, type, etc.

    [Quality Filter Problem]  yeah, again...

I read the forum and also the known bugs for this topic, even I clicked everything setting based on screenshot above.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
    1) Mod installed via Vortex
    2) Load older for mod has index 3 (I'm also using other mods)
    3) Script merge ran, but no conflicts to solve
    4) Game is running (v1.32 GOG GOTY), mod is looting

So what I want to achive is to loot every usefull thing, except white
armors and weapon and no garbage. For that there is many explanations, but they are not working, dunno why.

    5) Mod settings:
    - autoloot enabled
    - use filters
    - match any filters
    - loot bodies
    - Armors and Weapons filters set to Off
    - Quality filtering set to ON
     - Limit: Blue
     -  >= (latest option)

Expectation: I kill enemy who has some common sword, or smth and this will not be looted. Only if the quality is blue or higher.
Reality: I kill the enemy and loot his useless weapon.

Really, I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

    [Quality Filter Problem]

If I want to loot only Blue & above Items for weapons & armors but still want to loot everything else, it doesn't work ?

I set it to "match all filters" and only turned weapons & armors on enable and set the quality to ">=threshold" nothing will be looted at all excep the blue & above weapons & armor. If I set it on to "match any filter" it will loot everything.

So I can't have everything be looted but only blue and better weapons & armors ? If I can pls tell me settings I have to switch on because it doesn't work the way I would like to have it to work for me. I mean i could / would use "loot everything" but there is no mod that allows me to stack-up everything in my inventory because when I loot tons of stuff, specally "common items" and i go into my inventory it laggs like shit. therefore I would like to loot everything except common weapons & armors. :/

You can make it work, but its fiddley and a bit confusing. "match all filters" is exactly what it says.
With what you said it MUST be Armor or Weapon with quality >= Blue, so makes sense nothing else is picked up.
If you enable for example crafting mats, then it would only pickup crafting mats >= blue.
You want to set matchmode to any, and rather than specify weapons and armor as a filter, you leave them OFF and enable the others, like craftin mats.
      Then enable quality >= blue.
This will pickup ANYTHING (including weapons and armor) that are blue or higher. If you would enable armor/weapons with ANY filter, then it would pick upp ALL armors/weapons no matter quality (since it's set for matching ANY filter)

Here are my settings of which I think works pretty good.
      https://imgur.com/a/WGnj5Cq

Loots all useful stuff (crafting mats/herbs, unread stuff and what not) and weapons and armor (ONLY IF quality >= Blue)
Also loots ANY item if its value is > 100. This you can change since it may pickup Common (White) weapons and armor that has 100 or more gold value.

      Hope it helps.

Thanks for this, I wasted two days trying to figure it out, documentation needs to be more in-depth.

With your help I can finally autoloot/autopickup all the items in the game except white armor and white weapons.

My English is not good, the following is a GOOGLE translation, I hope everyone can understand

For those who have invalid modules, share my experience (I worked it out for two days to solve it)
The following modules are replaced with the last number of the URL. For example, this module=1996

I originally used manual installation + translation 3876, but 1996 had no effect
Finally, I used TW3MM to uninstall 3876 and 1996 (also uninstalled in 1996, important!)
After reinstalling 1996 with TW3MM, the script merge check is completed (I used 1185, and after reinstalling in 1996, there are more options to merge with 1185 script) and it can work after entering the game 1996

You can try to uninstall the translation MOD and 1996, and then use TW3MM to install 1996 again.
Hope to help people in need

I broke this mod on my end. Its not working at all even tho I set it up in menu. Unninstall, install, unninstal game, reinstall, delete all content in documents b4 a fresh reinstall of the game and mods and when I reinstall the mod it still manages to find a copy of itself and asks if I want to overwrite. I tried with yes, tried with no, and reconfigure everything in menu and still not working.

Such a great mod... I've messed up =(

You should use Witcher 3 Mod manager - it's the only mod manager that handles mods correctly for Witcher 3. Also, always use Script Merger. W3MM will auto-launch Script Merger if you set it up right, so you never risk forgetting this step.

Witcher 3 Mod Manager also adds the ability to toggle a mod off or on without uninstalling it.

      In general, you want to:

      • install only one mod at a time (using W3MM)
      • run Script Merger with default options
      • launch the game after every mod install, to allow the game engine to recompile scripts.

The only way this is even possible is if you are leaving files behind in the Witcher 3 install folder, which will happen if you are uninstalling the game, and re-installing with mod files left behind.

You have to manually delete those left-over mod files. Uninstalling the game and re-installing isn't necessary.

Documents is not where you want to look. That's where save files and ini files are stored, not mod files.

Doesn't work on version 1.32. Game fails to load and freezes on the loading screen of the loaded game.

@AllFick - I'm running v1.32, and it works flawlessly. Just to test, I uninstalled, saved, loaded, exited, re-installed 3 times - mod works great.

Just so you're aware, as of version 1.32, the auto loot is apparently outdated and won't work anymore.

It's 2020, and the mod is working just fine for me. I do read the Description field, RTFM, and try to follow instructions carefully. I only install one at a time, using Script Merger each time, and then test it before making any other changes.

I too RTFM, it is 2020 and I am on GOTY  and followed the instructions carefully. I only install one at a time using Script Merger and test before making any other changes...You know what - IT DOES NOT WORK ON 1.32 GOTY.

@tryoncemore - I don't know what to tell you. It's still working for me, along with 20 + other mods. GOTY Steam v1.32.

Just to test, I uninstalled/re-installed 3 times, running script merger each uninstall/re-install, manually confirmed that mod files were actually removed each time,  generated a new save in-between each un-install/re-install,  and it works every time.

Quick question, does anyone know why no item icons are appearing when looting? Works fine beyond that. If anyone has any ideas, would appreciate.
