There are some things to keep in mind before installing this mod. Its called Nightmare Mode for a reason. I consider myself a very good player and i still havent got past the very first Breakdown Level. You have to be on point at all times. You slip up one moment and your dead. Thats it. Get used to dying, adjusting, and completely changing the way you play this game in order to succeed. This is the real Apocalypse folks. Are you ready?

NEWGAME REQUIRED

/Features/

[The Survivor's]

|RULE#1| -Increased Sprint Speed-Increased Sprint Duration: The dead are numerous and deadly in this mod, getting a leg up will do good to help you survive out there. You can now sprint far longer and faster than you could previously. The better your cardio, the more noticeable the increase. Dont be fooled, you can still tire, and once you do... well, good luck.

|IDoesThis| -Increased Fighting Endurance: Your character no longer gets exhausted after a mere 1 on 3 battle with the zeds. You'll be dealing with 10 or more of them at a time, if your stupid, or just clumsy.

|FreeRunner| -Increased Overall Endurance/Stamina: It will take you longer to get tired on your adventures. Jumping, vaulting over obstacles, rolling, and dodging are now much easier for you character to handle. Just dont over do it.

|WatchYourStep| -Increased Falling Damage+Insta-Death at Certain Heights: You will now take more damage falling from heights that would realistically hurt and even kill the average person.

|WhatsAllThisRacketSon?| -Increased Noise with Rucksacks: That big, blundering pack on your back is now just as dangerous as it can be lifesaving for you and your Camp. Tread Softly. Nightmare Mode Exclusive.

|TheLightShinesInTheDarkness|- Increased Flashlight Range + Changes+Flashlight now attracts nearby zombies: Increased the flashlights range but narrowed the cone to more realistic levels. Theres also been a slight color change. Zed's in the immediate area will aggro if you turn on your flashlight. Those closer will give chase. The click of turning it off might just disturb a zombie if its close enough.

|StateOfDecay| - Gradual Difficulty: As you venture forth into the Apocalypse, the longer you survive, the worse the world becomes. Cars, they are fewer, zombies, they are multiplying. Your greatest asset, other survivors, add numbers to the hordes and are harder to find. The once normal zed have mutated and become something much worse. Welcome to the Nightmare in which you can not Awake from.

|ItsADangerousWorld| - Explosion Damage/Overall Damage Multiplied: Grenade blasts, Car booms, and propane explosions will now be deadlier than before. Dont just be on the look out for zed's anymore, be aware of your surroundings and try to get that nade THROUGH the window and not have it bounce back in your face.

|WatchYourBack...| -No More UAV: And your sides and front. The dead no longer appear on the mini-map. This means you can get leaped on and made into a meal at any given moment. Check your corners, head on a swivel, stay frosty, etc etc...just make sure you watch your f***'n back.

|DroppedLikeASackOf****| -Deadly Knockdowns: Once you go down, you stay down and then proceed to get torn apart. Only the most experienced and strongest survivors will be able to survive a down now.

|#NoFilter| -No Death+Knockdown Overlay: Now you can watch your own death in HD. Dont forget to duck-face!

|OohYouDirtyRat| -Food, Fuel, and Medicine Supplies Decreased: Dirty looters, filthy rats. Most of the food you find is junk, so you bring home less of it. Same with the medicine, most got taken during the initial outbreak and the rest is unsalvageable. Fuel was also highly prized during Z-Day, so theres less of that too. On the plus side you find More Ammo since anyone stupid enough to let off shots died shortly after. Oh yea, with all the junk and other stuff noone took, you find alot more Materials to use! So, i guess there is sorta of a plus side.

|ImDoingStuffLori,Things...| -Self Sustaining Camp, Supply Locker Resupply: Sure your camp mates go out and get themselves lost, injured, and sometimes even killed but its for the benefit of the whole group. Your growing societies supply locker now fills each day with common supplies. Guns, ammo, tricks, and even treats. They even find materials, fuel and ammo. Because of this your overall influence and fame goes up too. Reap the benefits of not only your hard work, but the rest of your crew. Well, if you can make it that far.

[The Dead]

|ICU| -Increased Field Of View - Increased Aggro Distance: The dead now have a bit more peripheral vision. Just because their back is turned does not mean they can not see you. Be aware of were the zed's are looking now. The zombies are also now more aware. From Seeing you, to hearing you. Not gamebreakingly so... But as they are now more aware, so should you. Once a zombie has spotted you, it 'signals' to other zombies in the immediate area that there is a meal nearby. The movements and noises the zombie makes whilst chasing you attracts other zombies. Nightmare Mode Exclusive.

|BRAINS!| -Increased Hunger: Just because you slipped around a corner does not mean zed will forget out about the moment you leave their sight. Zombies will now be aware of their surroundings longer and search a bit more AFTER your gone from their sights. This also means zombies will continue to chase you once you leave their Field Of View. They will pursue you until your last known location. Don't let too many pile up now kitties. Nightmare Mode Exclusive.

|CrimsonHeads| -Increased Bite and Slap/Melee Damage-Increased Sprint Noise/View: One bite is enough to bring you down now. A couple good slaps from the infested fingers of the zed will also bring your survivor crumbling down with ease. Sprinting now attracts the dead much more than before. If you walk or jog, you can sorta, kinda blend in with them. The moment you sprint however, if there are any Zombies nearby, they WILL see you now and give chase. Sprint only when you know its safe, or you have no other choice. Nightmare Mode Exclusive.

|IGotBlackFever| -You Are Now Infected: If the dead manage to bring you down, you will inherit Black Fever. Needs no more explanation. Hope you have a sick bay. Temporarily Disabled due to compatibility issues.

|TheValleyOfTheDead| -Increased Overall Density and Numbers: The dead are everywhere. Well except some houses. They have spilled into the streets searching for a meal and have spread across to the woods and countryside alike. Nowhere is safe. Especially Marshall.

|TheRunningDead| -They Run: Aside from a few that had there legs damaged during zombification most of the dead are runners.

|WereComingForYouBarbara| -Special Ambush Zombies: Not all humans are built alike. Same applies to the dead. Some zombies will see you from farther distances than others and give chase and attack you when you least expect them too. Just be on your toes. As if you shouldn't be in the Zombie Apocalypse. Nightmare Mode Exclusive.

|Don'tGetBit| -Fatal Bites: Just one bite from these monsters is enough to bring you to death if your a noobie out here. Only the most experienced and strongest survivors will be able to withstand a bite and MAYBE stay up for a second one. If you DO go down however, there is a slight chance of getting back up depending on how strong your survivor is. The amount of health you have when you get back up is determined by chance. Nightmare Mode Exclusive.

|HowCanSheSlap!?| -Claw damage based on chance/Type of Slap: One zombie might just graze you and do little damage, but the next could be a full contact and deadly blow able to take half your life away. Now claw/slap damage is based on chance and not just a predetermined number. Nightmare Mode Exclusive.

FAQ/INFO/TheYouNeedToKnowSection

|WhatsAllThisRacketSon?| Feature Info:

The Rucksack noise begins once you start moving any faster than a slow walk. If your crouched the rucksack makes no noise. Once you begin steady walking it creates the WhatsAllThisRacketSon? Feature. The noise continues if you jog, and if you sprint. Once again the only way to stop the noise is to walk very slowly(If your using a controller) or to crouch. You can also "Aim Walk" to disable the rucksack noise.

The rucksack makes you more visible if your indoors. The zombies will be able to see you a lot easier through windows and hear you if once again your not crouching or if your moving faster than the slow walk pace.

|CrimsonHeads| Feature Info:

These zombies hear and SEE much better than Vanilla SOD. If you sprint, you'll notice your aggro on the mini-map is much higher than before. This is to simulate the zombies better hearing and more importantly Vision. Once you get spotted by 1 zombie, your aggro stays the same size as long as that zombie that you aggro'd see's you and knows where you are. Since that zombie is now in pursuit of you and making noise/wild movements, it will attract other zombies to your position. Much more noticeable indoors due to indoor noise levels.

|TheValleyOfTheDead| Feature Info:

Due to the dramatic increase of zombies, its not uncommon to find that some zombies are not phased by your attacks/vehicle. This only tends to happen when you have an insane amount of zombies aggro'd around your immediate position. If in a car, driving back and forth will usually tend to work or any type of explosive besides fire, will take them out immediately. Once again this happens rarely and only if you have been in an area shooting constantly and have not killed any zombies and they just keep pouring in.

|Don'tGetBit| Feature Info:

Low level survivors ie:survivors with Fighting level under 7 will die in one bite. No if's and's, or but's about it. Those survivors at level 7 MAY take a bite and survive if they're lucky enough. If they go down from the bite, theres a chance they might go into death mode or not...and if they don't the health they receive in knockdown mode is determined by chance also. So just because you got knocked down doesn't mean you'll get up. Sometimes just 1 more hit in knockdown mode and you'll be a goner. Sometimes youll survive a couple. Luck of the draw kitties.

|HowCanSheSlap!| Feature Info:

Slap damage is now determined by chance and random. Sometimes youll take 50 or more damage, sometimes youll take 6. Its all random. Stronger survivors will have lower chances of getting super clawed though. Thats all I have to say about that.
