A simple mod to boost enemy dragons' health and melee/breath attacks.

  • Up to 8 times the health, melee damage, and breath damage (separately configurable)
  • Optional Alduin boost
  • Script-free
  • Customizable during installation (can safely reinstall with different options at any time)
  • Simply stronger - NOT an overhaul
  • Compatible with DDC, Splendor, and other mods that add dragons.

Health options: x1, x2, x4, or x8
Melee options: x1, x2, x4, or x8
Breath options: x1, x2, x4, or x8
Alduin options: No change, Same boost as other dragons, Double boost of other dragons, Quadruple boost of other dragons

If you're looking for tougher dragon battles without the complex and widespread changes added by other dragon difficulty mods, you've come to the right place.
Otherwise just stick with Deadly Dragons ;)

NOTE: Due to an engine bug, dragon's health bars will not show the increase. Therefore you will not see the health go down until you reach vanilla health levels. For example, if you have 4x Health enabled, you will not see any damage to the dragon's health bar until you bring it down to 25% health.

Compatibility
This mod edits the following records:
-crDragonResistNPCs perk
-DragonRace race
-crDragonUnarmedXX spells
-AlduinBase and MQ304Alduin

Other mods that also edit these will require an xEdit Merge Patch. However, every edit will be automatically removed for compatibility if it is not necessary for the options you've chosen, including the Alduin changes ;)

Fully compatible with Diverse Dragons Collection (any version) and Splendor with no patch!

If you already use Deadly Dragons or similar and are happy with that, then there's no reason to download this mod. This is for people who want something smaller/simpler/script-free/compatible/vanilla-like/SKSE-free.
If you combine this with other dragon difficulty mods, it's up to you to figure out what will happen.

Installation
NMM: Just install, choosing your preferred options. Then enable the plugin.
Manual: Use the folder names to find the version you want and copy that .esp file into Data. Then enable the plugin.
Mod Organizer 2 has a bug that makes it unable to install this mod. Use one of the above options.

Requires Dawnguard & Dragonborn DLCs.

Soft requirement: Scrambled Bugs, which implements Parapets's healthbar bug fix.Without it, some (most) of this mod's health boosts will not be visible in the HUD, causing it to look like you're doing no damage until you deplete them to vanilla health levels.

FAQs
Spoiler:
Show
Mod Organizer can't install this mod? MO2 has a bug that prevents installation. Their team has been notified. You will need to use manual installation or NMM until they can fix the issue. There are also reports that deleting the Fomod folder allows MO2 to install it.

Is this compatible with <x>? Read above.

Why does this exist when we already have <x>? Read above. Also remember that SSE doesn't have all the mods that Oldrim does.

What settings should I choose? I think it's best to choose settings based on your past experience with dragon battles and whatever it is that you imagine yourself wanting. For example if you think dragon battles are too short but you like them otherwise, maybe double the health but leave meelee and breath at 1x (vanilla). If you want realism (fewer hits to kill yourself and everything else), maybe set breath and meelee to 4x and leave health at 1x. Etc.
If you just want the option to adjust things in the future but don't necessarily know what you want yet, you can always choose x1 x1 x1 x0. Then you can change to a different version later in your playthrough, as often as you like.

Why does the dragon health bar not go down until it reaches low health?
Soft requirement: Scrambled Bugs, which implements Parapets's healthbar bug fix.

Without it, some (most) of this mod's health boosts will not be visible in the HUD, causing it to look like you're doing no damage until you deplete them to vanilla health levels.

Why not use Damage Resist and Magic Resist instead of a health boost? Damage Resist + Magic Resist would go a long way, but it would also result in resistance to non-damaging magic effects, and prevent the player from gaining EXP from a dragon battle (except armor EXP).

But I've been attacking this dragon for forever and it still hasn't reached visible health? You boosted the dragon's health way too much. Reinstall with different settings -- this will not hurt your save file. Though I'm not sure if the changes will apply to dragons that you're already fighting.

Alduin is impossible? Yeah man. Be careful with those settings. He's not technically impossible, but if you crank everything to the max, he will have over 80k health. For reference, the Skyrim engine doesn't even accept health values higher than 32k unless you apply them through magic effects, and Alduin normally has less than 3k.

How do Alduin's settings work? The settings you've chosen for your other dragons will be applied to Alduin, but amplified by the amount you choose. Example: If you pick HealthX2, MeeleeX4, BreathX1, AlduinX2, the boosts applied to Alduin will be HealthX4, MeeleeX8, BreathX1. (Yes, 1x2=2 but I think keeping it 1 is more useful, since BreathX1 means you want vanilla breath.)

Can you add <x> option? Almost certainly won't happen. There are currently 256 plugins and every option multiplies that number. Yes, I've automated the plugin building process, but this is already more plugins than I can load in xEdit at a time, so I've reached a new bottleneck that will prevent further options from being added. Plus the file size would get a lot bigger.
