About this mod
This is a template for a female standalone follower with a custom Race, there are multiple choices in the download page,
- Permissions and credits
Here you'll find templates for a female standalone follower with a custom race, there's one with only a Nord, one with all four human races, one for all Elven races (Human head normal map) and one for Orcs and it has human head normal map (Human noses).
Basically everything is done, except the personal things that you want for your follower like hair, eyes, eyebrows and maybe a body replacer.
Stats. class, inventory, spells and perks are of course up to you. The follower already has the perk Lightfoot (Won't trigger traps) and the spell healing.
This is meant for those who want to make a standalone follower, meaning you would have to choose hair, eyes and eyebrows from a mod. For eyes and eyebrows you'll only need textures and for hair you'll need both meshes and textures. The hair mesh which is a .nif file will also have a hairline, you'll need that aswell. If you decide to use KS Hairdo's then you'll need a second hairline which has its own texture. What you need to do then is to duplicate the hairline in the Creation Kit and then add that to the main hair. I also added all vanilla hair meshes for those who want that for their follower, for these you don't need to change any textures.
I recommend you download the tool NifSkope because here you can look a nif files and also find that nif file's texture set and also change it. So basically you can set your hair's textures in NifSkope, this is the preferred way if you use KS Hairdo's.
Want to add a custom haircolor? Read this tutorial
Want to add another race's skin color? Go the the custom race, tinting, skin color. then on the right you can add any other race's skin color, also add the intensity of the color (Start at 1 and if needed, work your way down)
Please upload pictures of your followers to show me what you did with this file :)
How to start:
1. Install this file via a Nexus Mod Manager or simply put the .esp in your data folder
2. Rename the file to something unique
3. Under TheDriveYouInstalledSteam\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\data\meshes\actors\character - create a folder where you put all the meshes that you want for your follower
4. Under the TheDriveYouInstalledSteam\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\data\textures\actors\character - create a folder where you put all the textures that you want for your follower
5. Open the Creation Kit 2.0 and choose Skyrim.esm, Update.esm and then this esp, choose this esp to be the active one. Don't forget to write in your name under author and a little description about your follower.
6. Everything that you need in the mod begins with 0_
7. After you've done everything you want and put your follower in the game. Don't forget to export facegen data and have that with the mod you're uploading. How you do that is in the creation kit under actors, mark your follower and click control + F4, it will ask if you want to export facegendata, click yes. Then go to your Skyrim folder and first go under meshes\actors\character\facegendata\facegeom\Yourmod.esp copy this route to your mod folder. You also need to go to textures\actors\character\facegendata\facetint\Yourmod.esp and take that route to your mod folder as well. You can delete the .tga file in the facetint folder. It's important that it's this exact route as well, otherwise your follower will have a black face.
