A set of portable containers which can be crafted at tanning racks. All can be worn so that they can be accessed via hotkey and none are visible when worn by default but three of them (the pouch, satchel, and backpack) can be made visible.

Contents in the containers will still encumber your character (or any follower carrying them). They can be opened as containers from inventory, via hotkey, or while dropped in the world.

For efficient transfer of items try my Better Container Controls  which lets you move groups of items to and from any container.

Version 1.2 allows you to place empty containers into other portable containers, adjusts the Havok properties on the basket container so it stays upright more often when dropped. Additionally if SKSE is installed weights of the containers will be updated directly instead of modifying carry weight capacity. (Take any containers away from followers before upgrading or you'll need to use the console command "restoreav carryweight 99999999" on each of them after the upgrade.)

USING THE CONTAINERS

You can equip them normally.

You must drop them or put them in another container to unequip them.

You open them by activating them (in the game world) or trying to unequip them (from inventory or via a hotkey).

You can pick them up by holding the Activate button to trigger the Grab feature. There are two grab modes available. By default grab will always pick up the container. But if you want to be able to drop and place the container in a particular spot with the game's standard grab system you can switch the grab mode using the configuration menu. When grab mode is active you can also pick them up with a simple activation if far enough away.

WEIGHT CALCULATIONS

The containers don't have any enchantments to increase carrying capacity and items placed in a container will still have weight. But the weight of the items placed in the containers will be reduced. The default is a small 5% reduction but if you prefer no reduction, a "Bag of Holding" effect, or anything in between you can change the amount in the configuration menu.

If you have SKSE installed the weight of the containers will be updated to include their contents. But without SKSE there is no way to display the current weight of the items in the container.
Without SKSE the encumbrance feature works by temporarily lowering your (or your follower's) total carrying capacity.

NOTE: Using only the game's only scripting features there is no way to display the current weight of the items in the container. The encumbrance feature works by temporarily lowering your (or your follower's) total carrying capacity. There is also no way to display how much each container weighs or even that your carrying capacity is being altered.

If you believe the calculations for the weight have become corrupt you can reset the weight for each of the containers from the configuration menu.

CONFIGURATION MENU

There is a special configuration object you can craft at the tanning rack. With it you can adjust the weight reduction percentage for items stored in containers, change the grab mode behavior, enable backpack crafting and reset the weight assigned for each container.

MAKING SOME OF THEM VISIBLE WHEN WORN

The Basket, Knapsack, Sack, and Pot will never be visible when worn but they also don't take up any body slots and can't conflict with other mods.

To make the pouch and satchel visible when worn simply install Bandolier - Bags and Pouches Classic by DragTen.

The backpack is a special case and the option to craft it is disabled by default (but you can change that using the configuration menu). There are two reasons you may want to leave it disabled.

First, some mods like Chesko's "Campfire - Complete Camping System" and DrSoupIII's "Knapsack Backpacks SE" have features that I can't support together with the container feature. You might prefer the automatic positioning feature of DrDoupIII's backpacks or the special enchantments and changing views of Chesko's. (You'll still have five usable containers even if you don't use my backpack.)

Second, because there are so many good backpack mods and backpack variations I couldn't choose just one or support them all. So I've used a simple square placeholder mesh for the backpack object and getting a working, visible backpack isn't as simple as installing another mod.

If you want to use my backpack you'll need to find three (or five) files from the backpack mod of your choice and copy them to the locations expected by my mod. The files you'll need will very likely be packed into a BSA archive. You will need to find the ground mesh, male mesh, and female mesh for the backpack style of your choice and then copy them to:

Data\meshes\cdc\PC_backpack_gnd.nif
Data\meshes\cdc\PC_backpack_m_1.nif
Data\meshes\cdc\PC_backpack_f_1.nif

If your backpack choice also has matching male and female files ending in _0.nif you'll want to copy them to:

Data\meshes\cdc\PC_backpack_m_0.nif
Data\meshes\cdc\PC_backpack_f_0.nif
