About this mod

This mod shows a waypoint over Sam Guevenne, and is constructed in such a way as to allow it to function even on PS4 (by reusing a vanilla script). I've uploaded it as a modder's resource: any mod author can modify it and target it toward a different NPC to assist PS4 users, so long as permissions are followed.

[Bethesda.net Upload]

I created this mod when a PS4 user posted on /r/skyrimmods asking for help finding Sam Guevenne, who had gotten lost. It's not possible to build any "NPC finder" without using scripts, but we can reuse Bethesda-authored scripts. It occurred to me that I could abuse that ability by using SSEEdit to edit quest fragments and build an "NPC finder" quest. The person who requested it reports that it works, so I've uploaded this to the Nexus for other authors to edit.

=====

This mod adds a quest called "[Cobb] Waypoint on NPC" which starts when you load your save file. The quest puts an objective marker on Sam Guevenne. If you're having a hard time finding him, follow these steps:

1. Install this mod.
2. Load your savegame.
3. Use the new quest to find Sam.
4. Write his location down.
5. Quit without saving.
6. Uninstall the mod.
7. FULLY EXIT AND RESTART SKYRIM.
8. Load your savegame.
9. Find Sam at the location you wrote down.

If the mod fails to indicate Sam's location, he may not be active in Skyrim yet. (That particular NPC only appears when you reach level 14.)

=====

These sorts of utilities require scripts to function. We can't ship custom scripts with PS4 mods, but we can reuse Bethesda-authored scripts, which is what I'm exploiting here. In theory, any other mod author should be able to modify this to target any specific NPC, to assist PS4 users who have lost an NPC.

Refer to the tiny little "PERMS" button, where the Nexus shows file stats, for permissions.
