About this mod

Temper your basic gear with the 2x smithing bonus when you get perks!

It annoyed me that the basic gear (Hide, Leather, Iron) was unable to be tempered with a perk bonus when you can temper everything else with a perk. Steel is an alloy of iron, so it didn't make sense to me that after you learned how to work with steel you still did not understand how to work with iron.

I have carried over the USSEP addition of Heavy Imperial gear as well.

Learning Steel Smithing allows you to temper Hide, Leather and Iron with the perk bonus. Additionally, it includes Light Imperial, Penitus Oculatus and Stormcloak Armors. Please note that Stormcloak gear includes the items "Fur Boots" and "Fur Gauntlets", but does not include the various hold guard armors.

Learning Advanced Armors allows you to temper Blades, Stormcloak Officer, Thieves Guild (Thieves Guild/Improved/Linwe, Guild Master, Nightingale) and Dark Brotherhood Armors with the perk bonus. My inclusion of Linwe's armor uses the USSEP keyword added for that specific armor.

I have excluded the Thieves Guild Variant Armor because they are not assigned a keyword and are normally not playable. I understand that some mods change them to playable but since I was aiming for as few edits as possible I did not want to edit those armors as well to add the keyword.

As I use no perk mods myself, I cannot say if this will be compatible, but considering that those mods tend to rewrite these to perks the probability is that they are not.
