Lore has it that the Dwarves created a weapon - a black bow - comparable to no other in their arsenal. They called it the Black Bow of Fate. Unbeknownst to most, the Dwemer created other, similar, weapons in their attempt to create the perfect bow. These are now know as the Dwarven Black Weapons.
