Introduction
- Hello everyone, this is a ReShade 3 preset I tweaked for use with Surreal Lighting. Clear Sight makes subtle but noticeable changes to your game. Darkens shadows for immersive days, nights and interiors. Brightens up the sky to give some life to the somewhat dead environments but not to the point of blinding you. Clears up and sharpens the image but no worries, it shouldn't make your textures look unbelievably noisy. And lastly, it stays true to Surreal Lighting's color scheme with slight enhancements, no strong blue, red or green tints. So no over saturation, no blurriness, no pitch black darkness and no blinding lights. Simply Clear Sight.
Requirements and Recommendations
- Surreal Lighting - Absolute necessity, without it the preset will look quite crappy
- The fGamma setting under the [Display] section located in your "SkyrimPrefs.ini" needs to be set to 0.9200. It should look like this "fGamma=0.9200". Your "SkyrimPrefs.ini" can be located in your Documents \ My Games \ Skyrim Special Edition (Please note this isn't actually obligatory but it's what my in-game brightness is set at. You can simply change your in-game brightness to your preference)
- Nights and interior lighting. This is preference. I personally use Realistic Lighting Overhaul ( interior plugins only ). You can use ELE instead, may be darker though, I haven't done much testing with it. You can use ELFX but not with the ELFX Enhancer plugin or Weather plugin. If you believe nights aren't dark enough, you can download Darker Nights which is now compatible with the latest version of Surreal Lighting and True Storms.
- Download ReShade 3 and begin the installation.
- Click "Select Game" and navigate to your Skyrim Special Edition folder ( Not the one in your documents ). Now double click "SkyrimSE.exe"
- Now to select the "Rendering API" simply click Direct3D 10+
- The installation will then ask you if you'd like to download a collection of standard effects. Click "Yes"
- Click "Uncheck All" to clear the boxes and now choose the following: AdaptiveSharpen.fx, Clarity.fx, HDR.fx, HQ4X.fx, Levels.fx, LiftGammaGain.fx, LumaSharpen.fx, Sepia.fx, SMAA.fx, Tonemap.fx
- Now simply click "OK" and close the installation window.
- Download my "Clear Sight - Reshade Preset", open the zip, open the "Clear Sight" folder and drag the "Clear Sight ReShade.ini" to your Skyrim Special Edition folder.
- Now launch your game and once you're at the main menu press Shift and F2 to open the ReShade Overlay menu.
- You'll be greeted with a welcoming message. Now click "Continue". Open the drop down menu that's highlighted in red and choose the file "Clear Sight Reshade.ini" Keep clicking "Continue" and then click "Finish", close the overlay menu and enjoy your game. Congrats, you've installed Clear Sight ReShade. ( Note : you can go to the settings tab in the ReShade Overlay menu and set your preferred hotkeys for toggling the effect, opening the overlay menu and taking screenshots. You can also edit the paths of where your screenshots are placed. )
Recommended Visual Mods
- Static Mesh Improvement Mod - SMIM : Must have mod in my opinion, edits many 3D models to improve their appearance.
- NobleSkyrimMod HD-2K : My favorite texture overhaul, used it in Oldrim and using it now.
- RUSTIC CLOTHING : Honestly, I'd recommend everything from Gamwich, all his work is great.
- ETHEREAL CLOUDS : From Gamwich as well. Gives some depth and life to Skyrim's clouds
- ETHEREAL COSMOS : For beautiful night skies
- Realistic Water Two : Beautiful water and ambient sounds? Yes please.
- True Storms Special Edition : Beautiful and intense storms with the addition of immersive sound effects. Works great with Surreal Lighting
- Verdant - A Skyrim Grass Plugin : Adds much needed ground covers to Skyrim's somewhat empty forests, looks great too.
- Skyrim Flora Overhaul SE : Adds and replaces Skyrim's trees with beautiful ones. Performance heavy though.
- Real Roads : Adds much needed depth to Skyrim's roads. Detailed installation guide can be found somewhere in the "Posts" section.
- Enhanced textures detail (UV-tweaks) : Not a retexture, it instead uses your existing textures and any future textures to enhance them.
- Footprints : Makes you wonder why it wasn't in vanilla
- Lanterns of Skyrim SE : Adds lanterns to roads, villages, towns and settlements. Looks great alongside the darker nights.
- Skyrim Better Roads : Adds objects and structures to Skyrim's roads, works well alongside Lanterns of Skyrim.
- PELTAPALOOZA - Special Edition : More work from Gamwich. Perfect if you're using Campfires or Frostfall. Alright I can't stress it enough, I like Gamwich's work.
- WICO - Windsong Immersive Character Overhaul : Want you and your NPC's to look better but don't want to stray away from Skyrim's intented look? Then this is for you. Stays true to Skyrim's design but much much better.
- InnCredible : Changes 11 inns throughout Skyrim and gives them a unique look like the Major Cities.
- Realistic Lighting Overhaul : Using it myself and looks great with the preset. Still awaiting version 5.0 and I know I won't be disappointed. Use Interior Plugins and Exterior Plugin only ( Note : If you have Lanterns of Skyrim do not use the exterior plugin ). Weather Plugins will conflict with Surreal Lighting and may cause some weird lighting.
- Cinematic Fire Effects 2 HD SSE : Think your game's fire looks like orange juice flying from your hand? Well this'll make your fire look great.
- Enhanced Blood Textures : As someone who loves blood and gore, this is sublime.
- Vanilla Vegetation Overhaul : Not a fan of Flora Overhaul and Verdant? This may spark your interest. Makes vanilla trees more lush with the addition of high resolution textures. It also greatly enhances grass density since it uses remnants of Unbelievable Grass Two. Doesn't hit performance hard either. (Note : Switched to this mod from Flora Overhaul and Verdant, just my preference)
