This is just a port for SSE of the original mod Follower Map Markers by annihilatt0r. Go there and endorse there.

For the moment this is only a port of the Beacon Version.








This mod is designed to help finding followers easier. There are two versions of the mod:

1. Beacon Version:

This version adds a 'Beacon' which is an object located in the Riverwood trader, once picked up, you can place it in any follower's inventory or even a horse if you have the required mod. A single quest is created in the miscellaneous section and can be toggled on and off.

2. The standard Follower Map Marker mod:

Every follower has a "Get Map Marker" dialogue option that starts a quest in the miscellaneous section of your quest journal. These can be toggled on and off. This version tends to be glitchy at times, as some follower's dialogue are rather tricky. Its recommended you use the beacon version as well for a backup. This won't work if you want to mark a 3rd party follower, such as from a mod.


Both versions are designed to work separately as well as together.



For the Beacon version, find it in the Riverwood Trader upstairs. Read the book next to it, and pick up the beacon. This will create a quest in the miscellaneous section in your quest journal; just put it in a followers inventory.

It's recommended you download the 'Follower Map Markers Complete Pack' from the files section, as it offers both versions, as well as DLC addons for the main mod.

If you downloaded and installed the main mod, a message should appear when loaded that explains how to use the mod. To add a follower, find them and choose the 'Get Map Marker' option in their dialogue. If you cant find your follower, or cant get to them, then use the console command 'Setstage "followers name"mapmarker 0'. An example is shown here:

The main mod will NOT be compatible with any follower not in the vanilla game, such as 3rd party followers from mods. The main mod is generally glitchy and some followers won't be marked if they don't exist in the game world yet.



The beacon version of the mod will work with any follower, as it's an item that is placed in their inventory.

Q. The follower I want marked doesn't have a 'Get Map Marker' option?
A. There can be a few reasons why, you either haven't finished a quest or haven't progressed further enough into the character's dialogue for it to be shown, or the follower for some reason doesn't like the dialogue option in the first place, try using the 'setstage (followersname)mapmarker 0' command. OR you can download the 'Beacon' version, which will fix this problem.

Q. I tried using the command you said, but nothing happens!?
A. This could mean three things, either you typed it wrong (check this description), the follower doesn't actually exist in the world currently for the command to be placed which means you need to progress further into the character's plot, or the follower currently doesn't work, and if that's the case, its up to me to sort it out! OR you can download the 'Beacon' version, which will fix this problem.

Q. How do I delete a quest!?
A. Unfortunately you can't at this time, to reset all the marker quests, delete the mod, load up the game, save your game, and then re-install the mod.

Q. I lost the beacon! What do I do now?[/color]
A. The book clearly stated it was very rare, try doing the method above, it should reset the mod.

Q. Why don't you make a spell version of this mod?
A. I have thought about this, and it might be implemented in a future update. I found the new 'Beacon version' a more lore friendly alternative.

Q. When will you make a SkyUI MCM?
A. When I can figure out how to! I'm very new to scripting and modding. Sometime in the future hopefully.

This mod has only recently been picked up again after a year of absence. This is one of my first ever mods and its been a challenge to make it work with all followers (even though a lot of the times it doesn't). However, I'm happy that I finally made a version that could work with horses, followers and basically anything that has an inventory. Thanks to everyone who has given feedback on the mod; I myself have used the mod non-stop on my save and it has been useful to me from the beginning. I hope its been useful and (hopefully) not too glitchy for you as well.
