College of Winterhold Upgraded

No longer have the desire or time to work on this mod feel free to take up the reins and edit it :)

This is an overhaul of the College of Winterhold with lots of visual improvements and activators for the player to mess with, while keeping the overall feel of the vanilla College. Create spell tomes in the Arcanaeum or summon forth adorable immortal familiars to go with you on your adventures, gain power at the Altar of Elements or fill soul gems at the Summoning Altar. The College prides itself on sharing knowledge among its members freely and now they do; simply attend the classes and activate your textbook to study. Tolfdir doesn't teach until returning from Saarthal, however.


Features

  • Classroom scenes that you can take part in to learn the 5 magic skills
  • A dwarven forge that can be used to forge dwarven nick nacks (if you have the ancient knowledge perk, you can even build automatons)
  • A major project for each of the masters (Tolfdir's room, for example, contains a wood to gold enchantment)
  • A summoning altar that can fill soul gems if you have the required conjuration skill
  • A soul gem altar that grants a permanent boost to Magicka for every soul gem studied (conjuration skill also governs this)
  • Bathing areas (NPCs will automatically undress)
  • An Altar of the Elements that will boost the resistance and power of a single chosen element
  • Alchemy jars that can store up to 10 ingredients at a time, generating new ones over time
  • A hidden safe in the Archmage's Quarters (check the Archmage's desk for a button to activate)
  • A spectral orb in the Archmage's Quarters that summons bards to play for you
  • A spell tome crafting system (works with the base game plus any mods that add their tomes to the leveled lists)
  • An arena where you can summon daedra and undead to fight each other
  • Free drinks at the arena (talk to the barkeeper)
  • Teleporters to each of the major holds
  • A Spectre of Knowledge that offers training


FAQ

Do I have to begin a new save to use this mod?

Not anymore, but, if you want to be on the safe side, you must take a few additional precautions:

  • Remove all items you've stored from the College.
  • Exit the College, open the console and use the "pcb" command.
  • Use the "ResetInterior WinterholdCollegeArcanaeum" command.
  • Use the "ResetInterior WinterholdCollegeArchMageQuarters" command.
  • Use the "ResetInterior WinterholdCollegeHallofAttainment " command.
  • Use the "ResetInterior WinterholdCollegeHallofCountenance" command.
  • Use the "ResetInterior WinterholdCollegeHalloftheElements " command.
  • Install the latest version of the mod, as usual.
  • If you are using version 2.5, also install the 2.51 patch.


How do I install the 2.51 patch?

Simply overwrite the files of version 2.5 with the ones that 2.51 provides.


How do I receive training from the Spectre of Knowledge?

  • Talk to the Spectre
  • Watch as they cast a spell of the chosen School
  • You will be granted this same spell, but it can only be used here
  • Cast the spell yourself to conclude your training
  • This will increase your experience in the given School
  • Go back to step 2 to train further


Help! I can no longer enter multiple areas of the College, what should I do?

FIRSTLY, ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THE LATEST VERSION OF THE MOD INSTALLED!

If you do, then...

Move the mod to the bottom of your load order, but before Alternate Start if you have it.
Make sure that you have no other mods that significantly alter the College. If you do, try disabling them.
If that doesn't help, then refer to this guide.

And if that doesn't work either, post a bug report and provide some information about your setup, load order and particular issues, and we'll look into it. Bug reports for outdated versions of this mod, however, will be disregarded, since they may have already been corrected in a newer version.
