About this mod

Are vanilla enchantments too expensive? This mod aims to make enchantments more affordable.

Permissions and credits

In the vanilla game, enchanted items commonly cost 2000+ gold.  In my quest to create a challenging Skyrim playthrough, I downloaded mods that nerfed loot and buffed enemies.  The problem was the astronomical enchantment costs made enchanting unaccessible to my poor Skyrim thief.  And I didn't want to miss out!

I am currently using the Sukeban's SME - Skyrim Medieval Economy for my economy tweaking needs.  From my perspective, this mod does a great job of making most items in Skyrim worth very little gold.  Now, in order to bring enchanted item prices down to this level, I made this mod. I ported this mod to SSE, Sukeban's mod might not have an SSE port.

Features

- Makes both "fixed" and "player made" enchanted items significantly cheaper.  ( Combined with SME, items generally cost 100+ gold if not less )

- Enchantments scale better with the "Enchanting" skill.  In Vanilla enchanting scaled up to 125%, now it scales up to 250%. With perks, it's doubled, so 500%. I made sure to make the strength of enchantments reasonable, most do not surpass the 75% skill bonus threshold.

- Gives enchanted weapons more charges so you can afford to waste hits.

- Makes damage from enchanted weapons weaker to compensate for increased charge count and additional enchantment scaling.

- Added 5 news enchantments. It's an enchantment that increases spell strength for each of the five schools. They have been assigned to rings that used to have reduced spell cost enchantments and share the same worn restrictions as spell cost reduction enchantments.

- Made specific enchantments stronger on specific apparel to allow specialization, avoid insane bonuses, and reward enchantment diversity. I felt that rings and necklaces shouldn't be giving bonuses to many specific enchantments, so they are now not optimal for a handful.

- Spell cost reduction enchantments are +75% stronger when placed on robes.
- One-Handed, Two-Handed, Marksman, Sneak, Pickpocket: + 150% stronger on Hands and Feet.
- Alchemy, Smithing, Lockpicking: + 150% stronger on Hands.
- Resist Fire / Frost / Shock: + 150% stronger on Shields.
- Stronger Spells: + 150% stronger on Rings and Necklaces.

- It's script free!  I changed MagicEffect entries, Enchantment entries, a couple of game settings, and added a single Perk via quest with multiple perk entries.  Safe to include and remove.

Additional Modules

- The main download includes all the modules.  If you only want to download the items in the features section, look for the "Core Module" in the additional download options.

- Worn Restrictions Module.  Made changes to the mod, so I'm thinking of changing this before uploading it.

Goals of the mod

- Make enchantments affordable.

- Make enchantments practical from the start.

- Rely on Soul Gem scarcity for balance.  Soul gems ideally would be rare and expensive.

- I'd like to add a module that restricts / buffs enchantments on specific weapons and armor.  Example, "Fortify Heavy Armor" enchantment becomes twice as strong when placed on "Orcish Armor" or "Turn Undead" enchantment becomes exclusive to Maces.  I can implement it, but I don't know which interactions would be fun.
