About this mod

Makes Destruction magic both relevant and enjoyable to use by making all of it's perks and enchantments increase it's damage instead of lowering mana cost - you won't be able to cast a lot of spells in a row because of prohibitively high mana cost, but each spell you cast will hurt. A lot. Fair and balanced though, no free OP bullshit.

Changelogs
My main concern with Destruction progression was that it just doesn't scale giving player ability to spam it rather than increasing it's effectiveness. This mod is built to make Destruction a viable gameplay option that has proper endgame scaling and is satisfying to use. Damage is high indeed, but so is casting cost. Remember those 'weakness to fire/lightning/frost' poisons?

Key features:

1. Novice/Apprentice/Adept/Expert/Master perks double their corresponding level spells' base damage instead of halving casting costs.

 2. Firebolt/Fireball/Incinerate and corresponding lightning and ice spells were completely overhauled in terms of damage, casting costs and efficiency. Basic principle is that fire spells cost 20% more than others (it's hard to invoke fire in cold Skyrim) but are the least resisted and still apply their 10% DoT. Area of effect Adept spells scale very well - they're a minor waste if cast on single enemy, but very cost-efficient if there are 2 or more targets. Expert level spells have very good DPS  and have a minor drawback of being 25% less cost-effective
(incinerate deals 2.4x times damage of a Firebolt per cast while costing 2.9 times more mana)

 3. Most Fortify Destruction potions and enchantments now increase magic damage instead of lowering casting costs. Notable exception are Destruction robes that give 10-50% increase to Destruction damage (vanilla is 12-22% cost) and 10-25% decrease to Destruction casting costs (instead of vanilla's mana regeneration % speed bonus). If disenchanted, it will let you put up to +40% Destruction damage and a flat -10% Destruction mana cost on your gear. Standard Fortify Destruction enchantment is balanced to be around +50% damage with max skills and best enchanting potion and gear resulting in +90% Destruction damage -10% destruction casting costs double enchantment. Now has an optional file for +45% Damage -10% casting cost maximum.

4. Dual-casting wrecks serious shit dealing 2.5x damage but costs 3x mana. Designed to use mostly with quiet casting for surprise attacks. Due to game engine bug you get Destruction skill XP for standard one-handed cast when dual-casting so using it as a general attacking method is not recommended (plus you will often deplete most of your manapool with a single cast due to high casting costs which will be a problem is you miss).

5. Does not affect NPCs in any way - they have their own set of spells and bonus Destruction damage does not work for them. They do lose Magicka regen from robe overhaul, but their casting costs are so low that their mana will never deplete unless you poison them.

6. Basic Destruction Magic skill progression (increasing spell power and minor casting cost reduction) remains the same as vanilla

7. Due to the way it's implemented, works with all magic spell addons that don't touch mentioned spells and perks.

Installation:

Use NMM or drop ESP from the archive into Data folder and enable it in the load order. Does not require a new game. Mod uses custom-made enchantments that retroactively alter stock existing items (e.g. Master Destruction Robe) but does not alter and properly recalculate existing player-made enchantments so you should reenchant your Destruction-related gear after installation. Also, deinstallation will break Destruction-related items that you enchanted while the mod was active, but will safely revert stock items back to their vanilla state.

Developer's note:  the mod is finished at this point and there are no problems with it that I'm aware of, so if you find any bugs or missing/inconsistent text please don't be lazy and report it to help make Skyrim great for once!
