About this mod

A lore-friendly retexture of the bread loaf by Willock

UPDATE: This mod is quite old and not of a quality level I'm happy with - I'm leaving it up for those who for some reason still want it, but I now recommend TB's Better Bread instead as it's much, much higher fidelity.

BBB4K is a small texture replacement for the bread loaves that are placed around Skyrim.

The goal of the mod is to make the loaves more rustic and realistic to fit Skyrim's theme whilst also being higher resolution and more lore-friendly.

Comes in 4k, 2k & 1k sizes - vanilla HD textures are 1k.

As I'm sure you're aware, Skyrim is set in a fanstasy medieval world, and unlike today where refined white flours are abundant and cheap, in medieval times white bread was a rarity and reserved for the nobility as milling white flour was a time-consuming and expensive process.

Because of this the vast majority of people, especially the peasantry, eat bread made from much cheaper un-refined wholewheat flour.

This sounds dumb. Why should I care?

You shouldn't. I'm a crazy person.

...

But if you just want a higher resolution texture for the bread loaves in the game you can download this mod too, I guess.

This should work with everything (tested with SMIM meshes fine); though obviously is incompatible with any other mod
that changes the bread loaf texture - just put this file after that file.

v1.0 - initial release

v.1.01 - Fixed normal map bug

v.1.02 - Added scoring lines on top, completely new texture for underside of loaf, matches top more closely, improved sharpness of texture, improved normals

v.1.1 - Rebuilt normals from scratch, now double resolution, added proper alphas to fix shinyness.

If you'd like to use this mod in your mod and/or mod compilation, drop me a message beforehand so I can take a look at what you want to do with it.

Also crediting me would be appreciated, thanks.
