About this video

Ultimate guide to install ENB and configure ENBoost for beginners and veterans with outdated infomation.

These settings are based on recent quotes from Boris Voronntsov regarding ENBoost [memory] settings.

He has said his previous advice was wrong and based on his old PC set up. The information on the official ENBoost page is now very outdated and this should help people fix their settings and properly set up their own ENBlocal for the first time.

For more advanced settings not covered in the tutorial, it's highly recommended you visit the S.T.E.P. Wiki.

Special thanks to TechAngel from S.T.E.P. for advice and Boris for answering questions via email.

Hey, thank you so so so much for this!! I recently had a massive modding hiccup with my game and realised I didn't have half of what I needed for modding support, and your video helped me configure ENBoost for the first time, something I've never done before and could never have envisioned myself doing. I currently use Purity rather than an ENB because my system doesn't have fantastic specs, but this should give my game a performance boost and support for any future changes I decide to make to my modding order. Thanks again!!

Cheers, it definitely helps to have enboost by itself and as you've probably figured out, there's an option in the enblocal file to patch the game with memory fixes without ENB graphics to save performance. Enjoy

Thank you for this. I am not using an ENB but I am using ENBoost. Do all the changes apply in this circumstance as well, particularly the compression change?

Haha many EnB authors would instead say you are using ENBoost without any effects on since they are now one thing essentially. Yes the changes apply

Lagfix and EnableZpass may help performance as well if set to true but these two depend heavily on hardware and Skyrim ini settings.

One last thing. As I have never used an actual ENB preset and only ran the ENBoost aspect, I never switched Bfloatrenderpoint to 1 in the pref ini. I hope that is right?

Since you aren't using a preset it's not a huge deal but you may get red letters in the top left corner of your game telling you that you need to or that "some effects will not work properly."

It doesn't hurt to set it to 1 in your ini just in case and to avoid that (i know I would find it annoying after a while).

I'm getting no warnings at all in red lettering other than graphics turned off at start up so I will leave it at 0. Thank you again. I linked this at the ENBoost page. Boris should (or authorize some one to) bring the page info up to date.

yeah he knows its out of date but canny be arsed to come back and fix it. The settings in the video have been confirmed by him via emails I exchanged with him recently and after talking with S.T.E.P. for additional tips as well.

Boris said the information for setting up VideoMemorySizeMB in particular is very wrong and outdated on the nexus page because it was his predictions based on his old PC set up. He's since upgraded and suggests the formula found in my video.

      Thanks again for watching.
