Dragonborn coming to PC early 2013

  • Comment
Today, Bethesda announced that the next DLC for Skyrim; Dragonborn will be coming to PC early 2013. The Playstation 3 version will be released in the same time, though any exact date is not yet announced. Though it is likely it will be released in January.

As for the Xbox 360 version, it is coming out tomorrow, so the 360 players can enjoy the game a while before the rest of us get our hands on it.

We’re less than 24 hours away from unleashing Skyrim’s next add-on
Dragonborn on Xbox LIVE. It’s one of our most ambitious add-ons
ever and we’re excited for everyone to play it.

We’re also happy to announce Dragonborn will be available on PS3 and
PC early next year.

The support from Skyrim fans over the last year has been amazing, and
it’s driven us to support Skyrim more than any game we’ve ever
released – including free content updates, modding tools like the
Creation Kit [2] and the Skyrim Workshop [3], and our add-ons,
Dawnguard and Hearthfire.

And we're still not done – we look forward to sharing more Skyrim
news next year!

I'm not going to lie. I really wish PC wouldn't get treated like an ugly stepchild getting things LAST...just sayin'. I'm happy to get it, don't get me wrong, I just don't like feeling like I'm being punished for having a huge, really expensive machine and not an Xbox toy. :-/

We know Skyrim was built around the Xbox360 and nothing else so it's no surprise that other platforms have to wait for addons because Bethesda love the Xbox360 so much. He's me thinking game developers should be impartial and platform agnostic. It's not like Skyrim didn't do well on the PC, in fact is blew Bethesda away and yet they thank us by releasing the Xbox360 version first.

I don't suppose it matters much because the modded version will be superior as usual.

According to this My link Dragonborn will be coming to PC Feb 5th.

So, y'know, only a month or so after it was supposed to get here. Still no real reason why, but at least they gave us a release date.

If I thought it would mean anything, I wouldn't buy it, but since that would just be depriving me of this content, my sails are set for Solstheim.

I think that if Bethesda keeps up the great work they have been doing making sure PC and PS3 gets the DLC for the game and continue to favor Xbox overall we can surely most positively expect Dragonborn for PC within the next couple of decades. By the time Bethesda's lazy crew get of their @**es Skyrim will be but an outdated nonsense game of the past. And we have had no lack of continual responses from Bethesda on an early 2013 release whatever that means but never anything more. And they say they are hard at work, HA! hard at work more like pretending to film Corona Beer commercials while they do absolutely nothing. Bethesda is not only being totally inconsiderate towards this issue but they have absolutely no shame whatsoever in their actions, if they did their response to every angry person who is wondering WHERE THE HELL IS DRAGONBORN FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT PLAYING ON YOUR BELOVED XBOX???? would certainly not be "we are hard at work" basically (leave us alone) or "right around the corner early 2013 release" (basically we haven't started yet we have months until its not an "early 2013 release").

So obviously i have given up all hope on Dragonborn for PC because Bethesda obviously just does not care. They have made it more than clear that their primary console is Xbox and that their 2nd priority is now PS3 because I have seen a whole lot of responses form Bethesda and are thorough in re-assuring PS3 users that they will get Dragonborn but haven't heard much at all on PC, so where does that leave us??? Right in a ditch and i can guarantee its going to be a longggggg time if at all before you see Dragonborn released for PC users.

And if you are wondering yes I have given up on Dragonborn, and i won't lie if it comes out I will buy it in a heartbeat because it is a DLC that I have been looking forward to play and since Skyrim is my most loved game I think of all time i want all the DlC that comes out for it. But believe me it is going to hurt a lot giving my monetary support to Bethesda, which is now a company i can't stand.

I think Bethesda won't see any 'warning signs' unless/until the content actually comes out and this anger/apathy actually effects dlc sales.

Because the way I remember it, things were pretty similar for the Dawnguard situation, except people were even less impressed with the actual content. Yet that DLC seems to have done just fine for Bethesda to continue with the Microsoft exclusivity (assuming Heathfire fit the terms of the original contract and Dragonborn was part of an extended contract). And I imagine Dragonborn will do just as well, if not better that Dawnguard simply because it is a much more promising DLC in-general for what it adds.

Anyway, I'm not as upset as other people about still waiting. For one, I didn't get Skyrim until last June, so I haven't been through it a billion times yet. And I didn't get Dawnguard until October and haven't even explored all of its content yet (in my first semester of grad school so game time is pretty limited during the school year). And honestly that worked out great because by them the patch was out, most of my main mods had come out with patches or updated to be compatible so I had no problems playing Dawnguard when I finally got it. And I imagine I'll do the same with Dragonborn considering I just started a new game where I'm roleplaying as a non-dragonborn (which kinda makes most of the new content useless <img class="> character. And since I'm also not using fast travel, I expect it to keep me occupied for quite a while.

That being said, the sooner it's released the better, for the sake of modders if nothing else. But more than anything, I feel bad for PS3 users. My brother has it for the PS3 and we get together to play (we don't really get along or have much in common, so playing the same single-player game in the same room is about as close as we get to 'bonding'), and I just feel terrible they have no Dawnguard, no mods, and no explanations for the delays. And knowing their first-world problems are quite a bit worse than us pc-gamers makes the wait a bit more bearable.

I'm going to take an educated guess, given by the lack of any satisfactory explanation by Bethesda, coupled with the lack of response on this thread for awhile, and just go ahead and say that I feel like everyone's pretty much burnt out about Dragonborn. It's certainly the way I feel, and given a few of the replies to this thread, I think it's the way a lot of people feel. Eventually, the excitement gave way to outrage, and now the outrage has given way to apathy. I can honestly say that I no longer really care about Dragonborn. If it comes out, I may buy it, if anyone still cares enough to make a patch for what will undoubtedly still be a buggy experience, but I'm neither looking forward to it, nor angry or surprised even at Bethesda's continued silence on the matter.

More than outrage, I think that this apathy I can guess many of us are feeling is a real warning sign to Bethesda that something is wrong with the way they are handling the situation. Outrage can be calmed, but when you have a group of potential customers who simply don't care anymore, that's bad news.

Congratulations for screwing this one up royally Bethesda, I think I'll just download a couple more mods.

I don't mind waiting, but I just wish they could give us a date, so that we know how long we have to wait.

The fact that we haven't gotten a release date yet makes me think it may not be coming this month. Also the fact that today was the day it was predicted to come out, and still no word.

Didn't Bethesda give a reason for this?

Technical Issues with PC and PS3 ? This was the reason for Dawnguard and Hearthfire right?

Considering the DLC is created ON PC, using software ON A PC, designed by them FOR A PC. Wouldn't it make sense to TEST it on PC first?

Call me callous.. But Microsoft being the mongrel dogs of the Empire, bribed the Jarls of Bethesda with a very high number of septims on releasing this content a month earlier. I mean cash. <img class=">

yes you are correct, but the 360 version is far from perfect ie. bad frame rates sometimes dropping to zero crash the game, so in essence the 360 version is almost like a test guinea pig version for us PC users, i presume Bug'thesda have been ironing out the Dragonborn creases over the last month.
