Skyrim Online - Multiplayer animation and equipment syncing

  • Comment
Skyrim Online, after being thought 'dead' for a while, is now updated with animation and equipment syncing! You can now see what other players are wearing and what they are doing, instead of half-naked prisoners floating around! Along with that, Face morphing and genders are now also synced and a few bugs have been squashed.

Currently, AwpSoLeet (Author/Lead Developer), InDev (Co-Developer) and Tytanis (Co-Developer) are working on more equipment syncing (currently, about 75% of the equipment are synced), parties, PvP and even guilds and guild towns that can be upgraded and customized by the guild leader!

They are aiming for a 'Guild Wars'-styled system, where you can meet other players in the major cities, but once you head outside, you are only with your party.

If you are unfamiliar with Skyrim Online, the project was started by AwpSoLeet and is being worked on by him and Tytanis. Skyrim Online takes the game's singleplayer experience and turns it into an online multiplayer experience. Tytanis' Ultimate Mod will be the exclusive content of the multiplayer world (but can still be used in singleplayer!) and will continue in the development of "Tytanis: Online" which will be powered by Skyrim Online's multiplayer networking. There will also be an option to play Skyrim Online that hosts the vanilla version of the game.

Skyrim Online can be downloaded right here on the Nexus and Skyrim Online's website is available at Skyrim-Online.com

Tytanis: The Ultimate Mod can be downloaded here and be sure to check out Tytanis.com if you have any content ideas or would like to help create or donate your mods!

First off, forgive my ignorance and lack of initiative searching for my own answer, but I'm pretty sure there are more people out there who want to know but still don't. Will the server allow any custom mods? I understand that some of the more complex mods (Armed to the Teeth, magic mods, etc.) are probably not allowed in the server. But what about armor mods? More specifically: armor mods that already use ingame textures (Einherjar Armor, Warchief Armor). Or weapon mods that are custom (JaySus Swords)? If your fellow party members have those mods installed aswell, will they be displayed on their screen? Or will the server simply deny any custom mods?

I can see that having the ability to host private servers could work around these problems, however, it's not my mod and I'm not going to tell a bunch of awesome developers how to do their work (seriously, great job!).

Thanks for answering my question in advance.

As others have stated before. We all wanted a multiplayer-version of TES, then we finally heard about ESO, what a disappointment that was.
I know Beth and Zeni are hard working guys. But you guys, are harder working. At least youre doing it right hehe..

All hail Skyrim Online, not ESO ;(

Well while I have my doubts on how this will turn out I wish nothing but the best from you people and it's good to know that you've made a lot of progress.

I have been in love with elder scrolls online ever since morrowind.
Announcement of ESO broke my heart

And you, awesome modding community are like wizards doing what Beth is unable to do.
Good work! I can keep loving the thought of elder scrolls online thanks to you.

Someone suggested to make a Kickstarter campaign, sadly I don't have a US address anymore...
I finally found ChipIn which looks really good !

So we started our funding campaign : http://skyrimonline.chipin.com/skyrim-online

"I wish they would just concentrate on getting it to work flawlessly before they start working on party systems and stuff."
We are doing things as we understand it and as SKSE makes progress, we spend some time researching to add features that are game dependent but we also spend some time to add features which will be needed in the end and that are standalone.

Making a mod like this is VERY complicated, I probably spent thousands of hours on it and sometimes dozens of hours to figure write 4 lines of code, I have made the mistake of not doing anything else than trying to figure out how I am going to get animations to work, won't do the same mistake again !

As I said I will release an SDK as soon as the mod is mature enough and stable enough, you will get kicked if you use gameplay mods or anything that adds content to the game if it doesn't have a server side plugin.
