Skyrim Real Estate - Underground Homes Challenge

Quote

Skyrim has been out a while and modders are working hard to add new content. While there are a large number of house mods available, there is very little variety.

Skyrim Real Estate aims to change that and increase the variety and quality of house mods available for player download. Following in the footsteps of it's sister site, that served Oblivion's house mod needs, Oblivion's Real Estate (known as ORE to the community). Skyrim Real Estate is issuing a challenge to all house modders. The challenge is to make a unique Underground Home!

With the vast variety of caves and the fact that unlike Oblivion, in Skyrim you can actually have multi story caves, it is surprising that there are so few underground homes available. This challenge aims to change that and provide players with a wide choice of magnificent, quality underground homes!

We challenge you, fellow house modder, to think outside the box and come up with something truley unique and special, by the June 30th deadline!

Once the winning mod is selected, it will be revealed on Skyrim Real Estate along with all the entries and available for public download. The winning mod is given the title 'Winner of the Underground Homes Challenge' and bears that title on SKYRE permanently. Letting mod seachers know that this mod is a truley exceptional home. In addition, the author will have a golden cup by their user name on the SKYRE forum, letting all members know that this modder is a Skyrim Real Estate challenge winner!

To enter, sign up in the comments here or go to the SKYRE forum Challenge sign up thread for full details on the first Skyrim Real Estate Challenge, 'The Underground Homes Challenge'. For a full listing of all rules and proceedures, please see HERE. http://www.skyrimrea....php?board=18.0

The judges are judging as we speak. Shezrie said she asked for their results to be in on Friday.

Question: I'm making my submission right now but it's kind of a two parter. One bit is a fairly small dungeon which is hostile and not part of the home itself. The other bit is beneath the dungeon and is the actual home. The backstory requires them to be joined together and the nature of the dungeon causes it to work best on the surface, above ground.

So the question is; can I create a small above-ground dungeon and have the underground home attached to it, or am I going to have to awkwardly shoe-horn the dungeon into an underground setting? It can be done, it'll just seem a bit out of place and won't reflect my true vision.

I'm not sure whether or not I'll have time to participate in the challenge, especially since I have another house I'm already working on that I feel I should finish first. It sounds like a lot of fun, though, and either way I'm really looking forward to seeing what people create. One question, though... I'm wondering about the open to the sky type of cavern, where even though it's an interior cell, there is a small (or sometimes fairly large) opening where the sky/sunlight seems to show through. Does this count as underground or does there need to be no visible sky in order to qualify?

Absolutely it can show sky, that would still count as underground. <img class=">

Quote Rayek Doh! Read the rules and it cannot be an already released mod. Shoulda held back 3 weeks. <img class=">

You know they slipped that into the rules just to keep you from winning right? X-D
I suggest you submit it under a different name with a few tweeks to keep from copyrighting yourself LOL.

Erm...we do read this thread, ya know. LOL
