Rounding off our countdown to the first place File of the Month winner for Skyrim Nexus, we have Thepal with his mod, Nude Females. Thepal won with 415 votes, and graciously agreed to do an interview with us below. Be sure to vote for December’s FOTM contest so you can see your favorite modder featured here on the site news. Congratulations, Thepal!
Knowing that a disturbingly huge part of people who mod Bethesda games fail to percieve them correctly with their distorted worldview as games, and not as their second life, pretty much everyone would expect a porn mod to score it, let alone this (which actually isn't that much perv-friendly).
Who thought a nude model mod would get so many votes... Personally dont you guys think that maybe the 4gb Enabler should have won this since it made the game playable and moddable for people. I think should have won that. Ive no issue with nude mods, their just not for me, but there are bigger and better mods out there that deserve this award a little more.
I think the mod that got the most votes should have won - as it did. Votes are the ONLY criteria for what mod 'should' win. ">
4 hours, huh? I'm at 152 hours according to Steam and I haven't even returned the Horn to the Greybeards yet. I'm head of Companions and Thieves Guild. Doing DB and Mages. Done a bunch of stuff around the place. Haven't joined the Stormcloaks or the Imperials. I figure I'll be at around 200 hours by the time I finish the game.
I think there might be a little more for you to see ;-)
I haven't played Skyrim in about 2 weeks. I completed the main quest and became head mage in like 4 hours. Honestly, it wasn't that challenging of a game as some of the previous ES games. I downloaded this mod so there would be naked women in my game. I'm a male. I also like hot chicks with swords that kick ass. Xena and Gabrielle (well, she had a staff) .Red Sonya. No religious stuff no philosophy. The nude mods are cool. Congrats on file of the month dude...that's cool!!!
@stp29 You seem to have it got it into your head that nudity is pathetic and morally wrong. Even though there is no reason to think this and as such you keep going round in circles. So I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you anymore
@plasma890
1. I never said that the mod was great becasue it got FOTM . 2. That's not higher thinking at all! XD 3. Elephants can feel emotions. Game over 4. I'm fully aware of the book's content and what can I say? One man's dystopia is another's utopia 5. That last part about me being stereotypical pathetic loner was a joke - you should try a sense of humor sometime
I cannot but feel greatly offended by the people who are insisting that I play my game their way when I use a mod such as this. One would think that this would be a 'no brainer', but they keep getting hot under the color because I use incredible mods such as this one to enhance my gameplay experience. And then to furthermore flame the talented author when people such as myself show our appreciation for the wonderful improvements to our games by voting them File of the Month. I have no use for the so-called 'sex mods' myself and have never used them. But I stand in support of those who do use them for the personal enhancement of their game playing pleasure. It is a solitaire game and what goes on in it hurts no one.
Once again I cannot thank you enough for this wonderful mod. I marvel that you were able to create this without the use of the yet missing Creation Kit. Your talents do not go unappreciated.
"I highly doubt the majority of gamers remembered Arena/Daggerfall for its nudity and saw it something that stood apart."
Actually, it was something that set it apart and that people remember. Gamers usually want companies to start treating them as mature adults. I haven't played Witcher 2 yet, but that is one of the main things you hear about that game, and a reason I have already bought it for future play. Gamers want a more mature game (and by that I don't mean full of sex and perversion, just not full of stuff 15 year olds are allowed to see).
"Nude mods are inherently uncreative because they have been done literally thousands of times."
So have armour mods. So have hair mods. So have post-processing mods. So have house mods. So have companion mods. Need I go on?
"They are relatively easy to make compared to other mods. For example, if you read the interview this mod is an example taking minutes to make at first."
Actually, at the time, this was the most complex mod made for Skyrim. It was for a while afterwards as well. In the days following this mod I had private messages from all sorts of modders asking how it was done (since it required mesh editing which we didn't have the tools for), including from the people that make those tools. So, before you say that something was easy, maybe you should think about why the only nude mod (and still the best in many people's opinions) was created by one of the most experienced modders in the community.
In addition, my textures are extremely well done (yes, I'm going to talk myself up because I think the truth generally helps with discussions such as this). Thought far beyond most re-texturing mods went into this mod, and considering all that was out in the first month were re-texturing mods, I would say that this mod probably deserved some of its votes.
"Your comparison to an armor texture is a poor one at best. Armor is actually part of the core gameplay while nudity and sexual arousal is not. Armor texture improvements can go a long way to making the game look nicer and are generally harder to make, especially if the mod modifies more than one piece of armor."
Seriously? Retexturing armour might make the armour look a little nicer. That's it. This mod actually *changes* something. Gameplay. Immersion. Perversion. Whatever you want to call it. Not that I'm saying there is anything wrong with armour retextures. I tend to use them because I like the game to look nicer. But I think your comparison is the poor one.
