Jun. 2, 2013 (11:05pm EST): I'm making a small announcement to say that this mod now has a Russian page over at "Tamriel Chronicles". The team over there has made this description more concise while also translating it to Russian. A link to that page is here.

Jun. 17, 2012 (8:09pm EST): I'm sorry for the lack of updates. I've been meaning to make some small changes but unfortunately just don't have the motivation I need to mod right now. So, consider 8.1 the final version for now. I may come back to modding at some point, and I'll definitely still read the comments so that I can make note of things that might need to be fixed if I come back to this.

Thank you all for all the amazing support that you have given me. This mod wouldn't be where it is without you.

Mar. 13, 2012 (2:59pm EST): The new "Simplified" version is up! Hope you guys enjoy it!

Also, as a sub-announcement, World Map - Skyrim Hold Borders now has over 10,000 downloads! This is absolutely incredible. I had no idea when I started making this mod that it would ever be where it is now! Thank you to all the users who made this possible!

===========
= Summary =
===========
The idea for this mod came about after I found myself with a bounty in Solitude. I wasn't sure where the borders of Haafingar were exactly and I became tired of looking at my map and having to compare it with the map I have hanging on my wall. So I decided it couldn't be too hard to edit the map's files and put the Hold's borders over it.

The result of this idea is a collaboration between myself and IcePenguin, the creator of A Quality Road Map - With Roads, to offer users this option while keeping the details of his map. We worked hard to find (what we believe is) the best way to display the Hold borders in every environment, be it over the grassy plains of Whiterun, the snow of Winterhold, or even at night (which proved to be the biggest challenge of all).

============================
= Additional Tweaks (Optional) =
============================
These tweaks to the Skyrim.ini (usually located at Documents\My Games\Skyrim) produce what I believe is the best experience for viewing the maps. Of course, there are many more. Add these tweaks under the [MapMenu] category (or add it if it doesn't exist).

uLockedObjectMapLOD=8
Loads some objects in the map such as waterfalls)

sMapCloudNIF=0
Removes clouds from map and makes it easier to see the borders

fMapWorldYawRange=3600.0000
Allows for 360-degree camera rotation

If you are using "fMapWorldTransitionHeight " tweak, the maps will not work. Please remove this line along with "uLockedTerrainLOD" prior to installing this mod.

=========
= Install =
=========
Extract the .rar and then copy the "Texture" folder and paste it into Skyrim's "Data" folder (usually located at Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim).

===========
= Uninstall =
===========
Delete Data\textures\terrain\tamriel

==============
= Known Issues =
==============
It can be possible to see the borders in the distance. Unfortunately, this can't be fixed yet until we can make the map use a separate LOD.
