Have you ever climbed the Jarl's balcony in Whiterun? The city feels kind of small, for a city that you first enter, it is at least supposed to look big. Well that is my goal. I'm working on a mod that makes Whiterun large by walling the windmills and everything to the first river, mountain, or watchtower. I will also be adding a lot of houses and people, to populate the city a little. Now to enter Whiterun you will have to go through the gate that is located on the road, and only by that the city will feel larger. I will also be improving already existing walls, and with that the city will finally be looking like a proper city, not just a random town smacked there in the game just for side quests.

This mod is completely compatible with every other mod, I was testing this mod with a lot of other mods active and didn't encounter any huge overlaps, plus-minus a tree or two, however I will continue to make this mod in 100% vanilla Skyrim, so I'm not sure if that will change in the future.

GOALS

My goal for now is to create a city worth a visit and lore, and that mostly includes the outside. As someone commented, the walls in this state are useless, they need guards in order to be of any strategic use except stopping illegal merchants.  I will also look forward to making the outside (to the watchtower and a first burned down house) look like a farmland capable of feeding the city, something like the Witcher 3 had, but also with an influence from the farmland I see in real world (Every Skyrim farmland is fenced off, which looks nice, but is not really immersive since you would need months to fence a remotely usable plot of land, and that is not including the cost of material to make it). Also It would be vital to make a connection with a city that has an exit to the sea, to secure a trading line, which is not present in the main game.

In the end, my main goal is to make Whiterun a memorably city, something you would enter and spend time in, while also laying ground for some fun projects like missions around the city and whatnot. Another goal is to listen to the comments as much as possible to make it YOUR city, after all, you are the ones downloading and giving a meaning to all of this.

UPDATE

Sorry to all the people that tracked this without a single update from 2019. I haven't had time to return to the mod, but thankfully that changed. I have spent some time with the mod and made a few noticeable changes, like made guards function, removed the Windhelm gate, closed off the river, and pretty much most of what has been suggested to me. I have also made a functioning Rakia store, and turned Ivans store into his widowed wives residence. I will be adding further structures and houses and maybe adding notes and journals to give life to the outside of the city.
