About this mod

Kagouti are apex predators native to Morrowind, which like all native fauna of this region, have characteristics that at least can be classified as exotic: a stocky body with a short tail and supported by just two limbs. The head is large and protected by several scaly plates, two curved horns and a large mouth full of sharp teeth.

  • If you use, like and value my work, please consider giving an endorsement. I've worked hard for years to offer you the best of me for free, and the only thing I ask in return is this gesture, which increases my relevance and engagement on Nexus, and motivates me to continue;
  • I do not inspect or have any influence over translations of my mods (including those linked directly on my pages), nor do I have any power over patches or add-ons made to my content. So, before using any unofficial add-ons for my mods, make sure they conform to the latest version of my official release, and never use these if they don't. The same applies to Xbox ports;

Kagouti are apex predators native to Morrowind, which like all native fauna of this region, have characteristics that at least can be classified as exotic: a stocky body with a short tail and supported by just two limbs, a pair of strong legs ending in sharp claws. The head is large and protected by several scaly plates, two large horns that sprout from the temples and a large mouth full of sharp teeth.

The Kagoutis often live alone or in small hunting groups. They come together in larger groups only for mating seasons, at which time the larger females can be observed as the dominant sex. During this season, they act especially aggressive and are known as Mating Kagoutis. The Kagouti have a complex vocalization system. They use different calls for mating, for territorial disputes and for fighting, and despite being much more aggressive than their cousins Guars, Dunmers tend to tame some as mounts.

They are potential vectors of the Yellow Tick, a weak parasitic disease that affects the afflicted's strenght. Relatively common in present-day Solstheim, how they arrived on the island is unknown, possibly imported by the inhabitants of Raven Rock or by the Reavers themselves.

(*Who is Beastmaster Mihail? He is my avatar/persona within the universe composed of all my mods. He is the ingame author who writes the texts that are usually presented as descriptions for my mods. A former monster hunter, now a dedicated scholar, he is planned to be released as an NPC in late 2022/early 2023, doing the same job in-game as my descriptions do on Nexus.)

- 1 new creature: Kagouti (in Kagouti and Mating Kagouti variants)

- 1 new misc item: Kagouti Hide

- 1 new disease: Yellow Tick, contracted by the close contact with Kagoutis (in game description- "Yellow Ticks are small parasites that transmit the infection of the same name. The afflicted loses vigor when infected, feeling weak and despondent. You lost 10 points from Carry Weight.")

- This mod also modifies the attributes of the vanilla disease added by the Dragonborn DLC, but never fully implemented, and impossible to contract in the original game, called Black Heart Blight. In the original version its effect is the same caused by the new Yellow Tick disease. This mod renames the disease from Black Heart Blight to Black-Heart Blight, as it was called in Oblivion and Morrowind, and expands its effects from 10 to 50 points of damage to the carrying capacity, due to the lore of this disease and its dangerousness, but even so, it is still not possible to contract it in the game, since this change was made taking into account other mods of my own that make it contractible. The mod also adds the following ingame description to it: "Blight diseases are transmitted through blight storms and by touching Blighted creatures. Black-heart is an acute blight disease affecting a victim's strength and endurance. You lost 50 points from Carry Weight." *Check Compatibility tab

So far no incompatibilities have been found between this mod and other mods.
As mentioned in more detail in "Features", this mod modifies, for reasons of loric consistency, the vanilla disease, not contractable in the original game, Black Heart Blight. If you use mods that also edit it, you may end up overwriting the changes my mod made for this disease. Therefore, I recommend that you place this mod below any other mod that affects and modifies vanilla diseases in the game.
(OBS- If by chance when installing several of Mihail's mods at the same time you are asked about files overwriting those of other Mihail mods or other authors mods, don't worry because they are just the same files shared between mods. I recommend that on these occasions always give preference to the files contained in my mods, and among mine always give preference to the mod you are installing last.)

The Mihail Monsters and Animals series aims to create and make available to the community the most complete set of creatures for TES 5: Skyrim, implemented in an immersive and unique way, with respect to the pillars of lore. Instead of pathetically just throwing models and textures in the game reusing 100% vanilla mechanics, the creatures made by Mihail have uniqueness and extreme zeal in their idealization and implementation, which will provide you with an experience that you have never had before in this area.
