Skyrim: Smithing Books

This mod is aimed at those who want to forgo the tedious grind of leveling up the Smithing ability but still want to build their own gear. Aimed at players level 15 and up, this mod has you delving deep to recover the books you need to read to unlock these perks.

Installation:
This mod is very easy to install - just place the Scripts folder and the .esp file in the Data folder and launch the game. Tick the box next to "Smithing_Books.esp" and launch the game. Make sure you select "Yes" if it asks you to overwrite any files.

How It Works:
Smithing Books is aimed to create another pathway for those who want to create their own weapons and armor. To do so, I've added 10 books all around Skyrim that, when opened, add a perk to your player. Each book has a specific perk - for example: The Elven Smithing book will give to the player the Elven Smithing perk. Once the player becomes level 15, a courier will seek out the player and hand them a note. Taryn Lockheed II, a smith from Hammerfell, wants you to retrieve a list of books to help her learn to be the best smith in the land. This starts a quest that will eventually reveal the locations of all 10 books to the player.

It is recommended that you pick up the books in order. Picking up the books out of order doesn't break the game in any way, however; it breaks the quest related to finding the books. If, in the first 5 books, you pick up a book out of order, open up the console and type "SetStage SB_01 20". This points you directly to Taryn, who has the note containing the location of the second set of books. Once you find all 10, typing into the console, "SetStage SB_01 50" should end the quest, but this part is untested.

Incompatibilities:
*Ordinator
It is unknown which mods will be incompatible with this mod. I can say that any mod that changes the fundamentals of Smithing in Skyrim in a major way will probably be incompatible with this mod. This mod edits some of the world - by placing objects and moving some - so if you wish to play it on the safe side I would recommend using TESVEdit and making a Global Merged Patch if one is necessary. It's unlikely that this will be needed, however.
