Dynamic Dungeon Loot (DDL) brings more variety and fun to loot drops found at the end of dungeons. Have you ever completed clearing a Draugr-infested ancient ruin only to be rewarded with predictable loot that's no better than what you already have? DDL seeks to change that. Using a level-agnostic tiered rarity system, DDL makes every boss chest a surprise to create memorable moments and gear that you have an attachment to. This mod seeks to restore the "that was lucky!" moments that Skyrim is lacking.

Also included are 16 "Exotic" drops. Ultra rare and highly powerful, the odds of discovering these artifacts are slim... but if you're lucky enough to get one, they'll be powerful part of your arsenal.

Dynamic Dungeon Loot is a mod that adds a rarity-based system to the chests found at the ends of dungeons. These are called "boss chests". Boss chests typically contain a rather small amount of leveled gear, and you can predict what you'll get based on your level.

With DDL installed, every boss chest makes two 50% rolls to generate a random piece of gear from five primary tiers of rarity. This means that you'll almost certainly get at least one piece of DDL-added loot per chest, with a chance to get two. These extra drops are in addition to a chests's normal contents, and care was taken to make sure that the balance and economy of the vanilla game remained intact.

What's important is that these drops are level-agnostic, which means you always have a shot to get a great item no matter what level you are. Maybe you're level 1 and luck into a pair of Ebony Boots in your first dungeon. On the other hand, maybe you're level 50 and strike out, and get an iron item! This random, dynamic element of loot adds a lot of fun to the vanilla loot system. You never know what you're going to get, but you always have a shot to get a great item.

Common - 50%
Uncommon - 30%
Rare - 10%
Very Rare - 7%
Legendary - 3%
Exotic - All Legendary rolls have a 25% chance to generate an exotic item.

Each tier of rarity contains more powerful gear than the last. Borrowing from loot-based games, you'll be finding a lot of common items. But the more boss chests you crack open, the better your odds of finding the good stuff. And since almost every dungeon in Skyrim ends with a boss chest, there will be no shortage of loot for you to plunder.

For a full explanation of what items are in which tiers, see the Readme tab!

Exotic items are the rarest tier of loot, and are either immensely powerful in combat, or unique in function.

I don't want to ruin the surprise of every item here on the description page, so I'll only be showing a few of my favorites. If you'd like to see a full list, check the Readme tab.

Blaze - This sword uses fire to cause high damage, with a 10% chance of a powerful lingering effect.

Sapphire - Inflicts high shock damage, with a chance to paralyze the target.

Mercy - A jet black Orcish war axe that causes a stacking bleeding effect. The more you hit the enemy, the faster they bleed.

Helm of Instinct - A Morag Tong helmet that lets you detect auras whenever you sneak.

Castle-Forged Steel Daggers - A set of twin steel daggers that always drop together, and cause high bleed damage. They belonged to a legend.

Fully Compatible with:

- World's Dawn
- Unique Loot (see available patch)
- More Interesting Loot (see available patch)
- Skyrim's Unique Loot

Mostly compatible with:

- Morrowloot Ultimate (there is a single container conflict on Dwarven boss chests -- simply put whichever mod you'd like to take priority lower in your load order)

This mod adds its contents to boss chests in addition to their base contents. This means that all your favorite mods that add items to leveled lists are compatible out of the box, they just won't be in the DDL random loot pool until compatibility patches are made.

Dynamic Dungeon Loot makes edits to several containers. These containers are the boss chests, and are not commonly edited by mods. If you do happen to have another mod in your load order that edits these same containers, you'll need a merged patch.

Beyond that, this mod is compatible with everything. The only vanilla assets that are edited are those containers, and everything else is added new by this mod.

This mod uses no scripts. In your download you will notice one script that is not actually in use. This is a simple script to let other authors create compatibility patches to expand the DDL loot pool with items from their mods.
