About this mod

I have played Skyrim. I have played Borderlands.
I have tried Dark Souls.

I took what I liked about dying in these games, and combined them into one.

AVAILABLE IN

INTRODUCTION

You can only be killed by your blood relatives – dragons.

FEATURES

  • Instead of dying you'll be reborn at the place of your last meditation.
  • You can recover your 'dropped' soul(s) and experience.
  • To prevent getting curb stomped by your enemies you'll gain short-term protection from Akatosh.
  • Arguably configurable to your liking.

REQUIREMENTS

  • None.

HOW DOES THE MOD WORK

  • Mod is disabled by default, and you'll die if you don't meditate.
  • When you meditate following menu will appear.
  • Set displayed options to your liking (what they do is explained further down in the description).
  • To enable NRFTW press 'I need Akatosh's protection'. To disable press 'I don't need Akatosh's protection'.
  • To finish press 'I want to finish this meditation'.
    • If you wish to meditate WITHOUT having the configuration menu pop-up use 'Meditation' power.
    • If you wish to meditate WITH the configuration menu use 'Meditation (Deep)' power.

'What am I'

Keep in mind that following ordering is cumulative (as in everything before your choice in the list applies to it):

  • Milkdrinker - You'll be reborn at the place of your last meditation.
  • Weakling - You'll lose a dragonsoul, experience gained with SXP (Redone) and regular skill experience if you use Sleep To Gain Experience. (Default)
  • Adventurer - You'll suffer skill decrease. One point of skill decrease per day without meditating.
  • Fearless - You'll gain 10% overall health debuff (Death's Cold Grip) per death. Maximum of 50%. To cure this 'curse' you'll get an option to do so when you activate an Shrine of Akatosh or when you equip 'Amulet of Akatosh'. One dragonsoul to cure the curse.
  • Dragonborn - To cure the 'curse' you'll need appropriate amount of dragonsouls. Example: If you die three times you'll gain 30% health debuff and you'll need 3 dragonsouls to cure the curse.

To recap, following will happen if you set the above to Dragonborn:
  • You'll be reborn at the place of your last meditation.
  • You'll lose a dragonsoul, experience gained with SXP (Redone) and general experience if you use Sleep To Gain Experience.
  • You'll suffer skill decrease.
  • You'll gain 'Death's Cold Grip' heath debuff which increases per death up to 50%, and you'll need up to 5 dragonsouls to cure it.

Now try fighting a dragon at 50% of your maximum health. Health potions actually sound useful now.

'Am I one with my soul'

  • Yes - You won't be able to recover 'dropped' dragonsoul(s), and the experience gained with the SXP (Redone). (Default)
  • No - You'll be able to recover your 'dropped' dragonsoul(s) and the experience gained with the SXP (Redone). You have 24h to retrieve it.
  • No and my soul doesn't dissipate - You'll be able to recover your 'dropped' dragonsoul(s) and the experience gained with the SXP (Redone). You have unlimited time to retrieve it.

'How much does death affect me?' (SKSE 1.7.3.+)

  • Little - 5% health debuff per death.
  • Daring - 10% health debuff per death. (Default)
  • Greatly - 15% health debuff per death.

COMPATIBILITY

  • Not compatible
    • All mods that revolve around players death.
  • Compatible
    • SXP (Redone) - When you die you'll get a message asking if you'd like to offer a dragonsoul(s) to Akatosh in order to gain random percentage of your experience back. This is useful if you have died in an uncomfortable place and there is now way you can get your soul back.
    • Campfire
