About this mod

Simple mod which makes guards stronger.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Many of us want a more challenging game - we install various difficulty mods, making our enemies tougher. But what about our allies? How many times have you seen a vampire/bandit killing a guard with one blow? Guards should be able to protect civilians and themselves, so I decided to make this mod.

Features:
Main version:
Guards, CW soldiers, Thalmor and housecarls
- receive ten times less damage;
- deal two times more damage to enemies (exceptions: your character, his/her followers, dragons and a fellow involved in MQ);
- deal two times more damage to vampires and werewolves (stacks with previous damage increase).
Less powerful version:
- receive five times less damage;
- deal two times more damage to enemies (exceptions: your character, his/her followers, dragons and a fellow involved in MQ).

As you can see, these values are intended for hardcore game setups, not for vanilla game. I don't claim that they are balanced (because they are not), it's up to you to use or not to use this mod.

Requirements:
I won't help with anything you if you are not using MO. Sorry.

Installation:
  • Install ASIS and add it as executable (you need 32-bit Java - download the latest version from the official site)
  • Install ASIS Improved INI Files
  • Install Strong Guards (NPCEnchantFix.ini from Strong Guards must overwrite ini files from ASIS and ASIS Improved INI Files, "conflicts" in MO mean that a file is overwritten)
  • Sort your load order (use LOOT and manual check)
  • Run ASIS through MO, make sure that NPC Enchant Fix is selected and click "Patch"
  • Activate ASIS.esp
If you want to install less powerful version, install main file, then install optional file and select "Merge" (not "Replace").
Uninstallation:

  • Uninstall Strong Guards
  • Generate ASIS.esp

Load Order:

Doesn't matter.

Compatibility:
Strong Guards distributes NPC-only perk via ASIS, so it is compatible with everything.

Troubleshooting:
Guards, CW soldiers, Thalmor and housecarls are defined by factions. If NPC doesn't belong to correct faction, then the perk won't do anything. Not my fault.

Special thanks:

Alex9ndre for Armor Class  - this mod told me how to better implement Strong Guards
Enai Siaion and /r/skyrimmods for answering my questions
