The College of Winterhold has, for as long as anyone can remember, secreted away certain rare and dangerous artefacts, some thought to be lost to the ages. One such artefact is a set of ornate Ayleid War-Blades, owned by Ayleid soldiers of high rank as status symbols in what is now known as Cyrodiil, though they were rarely actually used in battle.
Because of the high value of these blades, they are kept under watch under lock and key by the charge of the Arch-Mage, but in recent years, the location of the key to their display case has been lost, and various physical and magical attempts to folly the enchantments placed upon it and break open the case have failed.
The blades lie there still today. Will you unlock the secret?

The key is waiting for you amongst the defiled dead.

The key is in the Hall of the Dead in Markarth. As you go in from the entrance in Understone Keep, it's in the second hollow to the left.
