Uses Of This Mod
This mod is designed for those that felt the vanilla housecarls to be both unattractive and underwhelming. Both appearance and stats are buffed, as well as the fact that default armours have been edited to suit the housecarl's hold better. Note that this mod is 100% lore-friendly and should seamlessly blend with the world of Skyrim.
Compatibility and Known Bugs
So far, there have been no compatibility issues, and this mod should work seamlessly with other mods. If any incompatibilities are found, they will be posted below.
Hearthfire IS required.
Installation/Uninstallation
By the divines, just use the Nexus Mod Manager! It's simple to use and works perfectly with this mod. You can try the traditional manual installation method, but I don't recommend it. Although, if the NMM should fail then copy the contents of the files you want to your Skyrim Data folder.
Uninstall via the NMM, or delete all relevant files related to "Housecarl Tweaks and Improvements".
Update Installation (Using NMM)
1) Remove the current version of this mod via NMM/Delete all related files.
2) Install the new version on this page via NMM/Copy all contents of the files you want to your Data folder.

Just the 4 years or so since the last update... anyways:
- Rebuilt the mod from the ground up; no more grey face issues due to no cosmetic changes
- Below name changes and armor buffs are still in effect
- Removed essential status for housecarls, be careful!
This is now an SSE-ONLY mod.

Thought I was gone? WRONG.
-Gave a huge equipment buff (still not OP) to all NPC/Jarl Housecarls. This particularly affects the non-follower NPCs.
-Fixed the grey-face bug on Hearthfire housecarls.
-Changed Bolgeir Bearclaw's name to Bolgeir Bear-Claw in keeping with Nordic style.

We're back!
-Changed Irnskr Ironhand's name to Irnskr Iron-Hand and upgraded his weapon from an Iron Dagger.
-Changed Valdimar Sunder-Shield's armour and name back to vanilla.
-Changed Rayya's hair and restored her equipment. Updated spellist.

-Edited the equipment of Iona, Unmid Snow-Shod, Valdimar Sunder-Shield, Faleen, Brill, Olfina Gray-Mane and Rayya.
-Tweaked stats so their proficients reflect their armour types and choice of weapon.
-Iona is now a rogue, using leather armour and a dagger.
-Rayya from Hearthfire is now a spellsword.
-Changed Horik Halfhand's name to Horik Half-Hand.
-Buffed the health of all housecarls.
