Addon for Weapons and Armors Attributes - Detailed Descriptions
For use with Version 4.1 or 4.2
By EvanBGood

NOTE: THIS MOD IS LIKELY OBSOLETE! WAA was overhauled in version 5.0, and though I haven't had the opportunity to test it, it appears that the descriptions are far more informative than they were when this addon was made. It's also extremely likely that most (if not all) of the description changes will be inaccurate for versions that aren't 4.1 or 4.2, and may just flat out break the mod. Until I can test it, I'll keep this mod up for archival purposes, but please only download it if you're using an old version of the source mod.

This is a simple addon file for the mod Weapons and Armors Attributes by Alex9ndre. I really liked this mod once I started using it, but I ran into a problem: there are a LOT of effects to remember! In game, you can get a rough idea of what your current equipment is doing to your character, but the descriptions are "In character", meaning they don't tell you specifically what's being changed like a vanilla effect does. So, I found myself going back to the mod page repeatedly while playing to find the exact information. This mod simply replaces the default descriptions with the information from the WAA's mod page. For example, when wearing Ebony armor, you'll get this effect:

"The strength of Ebony makes the wearer strongly resistant to staggering while being attacked."

And when Detailed Descriptions is activated, you'll see this instead:

"+10 fire resist (per piece), -10% shock resist (per piece), Set Bonus: 50% chance to negate stagger, 60 skill required"

This will show specific values and descriptions for:
  • Changes to resistance (armor, fire, shock, frost, poison, disease, etc.)
  • Changes to health, magicka, or stamina.
  • Changes to skills such as speechcraft.
  • Changes to weapon damage and weapon speed
  • Any armor set bonuses
  • Any special weapon abilities.
  • Effects for not using items, such as Duelist, Sword & Board, and the buffs for unarmored body/hands/feet/head.
  • Skill requirements to avoid the "Unqualified" debuff. *Note that this will not list the skill name itself due to the fact that the same effect may apply to multiple different armor or weapon types, but it should be obvious based on what you've equipped that gave you the effect (archery for a bow, light armor for light armor, etc).

However, there are a few things that can't be described that you should be aware of:
  • There are several "under the hood" effects that apply in Weapons and Armors Attributes, depending on what features you have enabled in the MCM. This includes things such as movement speed reduction and movement noise increases from wearing armor, as well as stamina changes.
  • Many armor buffs/debuffs are listed as "per piece". This means, though the effect will change, the number in the description will not change based on how many pieces you're wearing. Similarly, effects may describe set bonuses that you aren't currently wearing enough to qualify for, or they may describe a list of different effects. For example, when wearing a cloth hat and cloth boots, you'll get the effect "-10% fire resist if wearing clothing made of cloth, -5% fire resist for cloth gloves, boots, headwear (per item worn)", meaning your actual effect will be -10% fire resist.
  • Some effects are triggered by multiple item types, yet have slightly different attributes. For example, hide armor and scaled armor both use the same effect, but scaled armor has a 30 skill requirement. This is listed as "30 skill requirement (for scaled armor only)". Fortunately, these are rare.
  • Skill requirement penalties are tied to the spell effect of the equipment itself. This means that, if you don't qualify for a worn or held piece of equipment, you'll get the "Unqualified for equipped armor/weapon" effect, but it won't include a description of the penalty. For reference, these are the three penalties that apply if you lack the skill for that item (one of the effect's names should identify it as a heavy or light weapon):
    -50% Armor rating for armors
-20% attack speed for heavy weapons
    -30% damage for light weapons

What's been changed and Version 4.1
This addon was created on top of Weapons and Armors Attributes 4.1. The only things that were changed were descriptions (and a couple minor name changes) under the "Spell" category. However, I can't guarantee that this will work with future versions of the mod, since applying this mod will revert all the altered spells to their 4.1 state. I'll attempt to release an updated version to match if WAA is updated, but since this is a rather simple file, it should be possible to open it up in TES5Edit and ensure that only descriptions are being overwritten.
Note: There were no changes in WAA 4.2 that effect this addon, and it should be safe to use until another patch comes out.

Installation
Extract and enable this mod like any other .esp file. It contains no additional files to worry about, and should be safe to run through a plugin merger. The only requirement is that this file MUST be loaded after Weapons and Armors Attributes.esp in your load order.

Uninstallation
As this mod contains no additional scripts or files, it should be safe to disable and delete. If uninstalling Weapons and Armors Attributes entirely, please visit the main mod page for instructions (the mod includes an enable/disable button in the MCM for this purpose).

Permission
You may edit and use this file for any non-commercial purposes, though you will need to gain the permission from the owner of Weapons and Armors Attributes prior to distributing this or any other file from their mod. I'd prefer if you gave credit to my name somewhere in any mod release that includes this file. The owner of Weapons and Armors Attributes (or any future iterations) may freely edit and distribute this file along with the mod itself at any time if they would like to do so.

Thank you and please remember to endorse the original WAA mod!
