About this mod

With Wylandriah's notes on "Arcane Enchanter Basics" activating an Arcane Enchanter lets you transfer existing enchantments between items or rename an item without using the Enchanting skill.

Is Enchanting a skill your character just doesn't want to learn but you are tired of finding great looking armor, clothing, and weapons but then finding other items with great enchantments and wish you could transfer the enchantment? Do you sometimes forget to rename your items while you're enchanting them?

If so, just find a copy of "Arcane Enchanter Basics" and you'll learn the secrets for directly transferring enchantments without needing to learn them and for renaming items without changing their enchantment. The small book is just Wylandriah's notes on the subject. She has the original lying around somewhere and she sent a copy to the College of Winterhold. Faralda sometimes uses the College copy so she can reach the top shelf in her wardrobe.

Alternately hold Wabbajack in your right hand while activating any Arcane Enchanter. Sheogorath seems to like Wylandriah's work. :)
Wylandriah's Notes on
Arcane Enchanter Basics

Why do we call them Arcane Enchanters? Is it because that is their most powerful feature? Why not Arcane Disenchanters? Or Arcane Renamers? Or Arcane Transducers? And why do so many people fail to notice their basic features? Activating the basic features merely requires accessing an extra-dimensional space by following a few simple steps. I've listed them on the last few pages. For some reason I tend to leave out step 27 myself, so you may want to keep this in hand when trying to access the basic features of an Arcane Enchanter.

The simplest of the basic features is item marking (also called renaming by some people). To give an item your own mark simply place it into the extra-dimensional space. You can only mark one item at a time, but it can be enchanted or unenchanted.

[Rambling theory continues for dozens of pages.]

The second basic feature is enchantment transfer. It's as simple as placing two items into the extra-dimensional space, one with an enchantment and one without. What happens depends on the exact items. If they are not compatible then generally the arcane enchanter just rejects both. When they are compatible the enchantment will be transferred. Unfortunately the original enchanted item is frequently destroyed in the process. (Although I suspect that it is really transported to some different extra-dimensional space.) Putting in more than two items never seems to do anything.

There are rumors that by holding a daedric artifact in your right hand you can transfer almost any enchantment in any way you like. That sounds like madness to me.

[Even more rambling followed by the promised list of steps. COC CDC_ESCELL is scrawled in the margin.]

[NOTE: Drop this book to enchant normally.]
Known Problems and Limitations

If holding Wabbajack you'll be able to bypass normal enchanting limitations. That means you could end up losing a quest item or unbalancing your game. The original items aren't really destroyed, so if you need some item back just use the console command from Wylandriah's book and grab it from the barrel on the bridge.

The effects of some items which appear to be enchanted are really implemented through perks or scripts. Only true enchantments can be transferred by this mod. Supporting other items would require editing the perks and scripts unique to each item.
