What is it?

This mod is a simple ESP that fixes the Necromage perk so that it works correctly when you play as a vampire or any other kind of undead. Specifically, it prevents Necromage from erroneously applying to potions, enchantments, shouts, blessings, standing stones, and perks, but still allows any self-cast spells to get boosted if you are undead. I believe this to be the original intent of the perk.

What is Necromage?

Necromage is an Expert level Restoration perk that boosts the magnitude and duration of all spells you cast on undead. If you become a vampire in Skyrim, then you are undead, and so all spells you cast on yourself are also boosted. This is great, but the problem is that Necromage will also apply those boosts to any potions, enchantments, shouts, blessings, standing stones, and even some perks - all of which is obviously incorrect. Despite knowing about the bug, Bethesda failed to fix it (surprise). The Unofficial Patch provides a solution, but it prevents Necromage from applying to any and all self-cast spells even if the player is undead, which nerfs the awesome Necromage as a Vampire synergy entirely.

Compatibility?

Since this mod only changes the Necromage perk itself and does not edit any other records, it should be compatible with any mod that doesn't edit that same record. Load it after any perk overhauls if you're unsure. TES5Edit is your friend here as it will show you any conflicts clear as day. These changes can easily be merged into any other mod and I encourage mod authors of perk overhauls to simply take these changes and include them in their mods if they wish to do so.

What did you change?

I added more conditions to the Necromage perk so that it only applies to spells from the five major schools of magic in Skyrim. I also updated the perk description so it actually explains what the perk does now:

Before: All spells are more effective against undead.
After: All spells are 25% more powerful and last 50% longer when cast on undead.

How do I install it? Should I use the NMM?

No, you shouldn't. NMM is like IE - it's always there, but cool people use Chrome, Firefox, etc.
Use Mod Organizer and/or TES5Edit instead. They are far superior.
