Ever noticed how mismatched the textures in High Hrothgar are, even with the Bethesda Hi-Res DLC installed? Me too! Ever noticed just how few mods attempt to address the issue, or disappointed by the few offerings because they completely change the look of the place? Yeah, me too!

This mod is an attempt to fix that with a vanilla-friendly (mostly) 2k overhaul of High Hrothgar to bring the low-res textures Bethesda left us with up to match the rest of Skyrim.

Includes:

  • Bethesda's 1k textures reworked into 2k
  • 1k normal maps throughout
  • Special 4k texture for the 7,000 steps so they match the depth of everything else (Finally!)
  • Environment mapping for the two metal doors, and the Sprint Gate (Shiny!)
  • UV mapping fixes for the misaligned stone blocks on the entranceways (See the second screenshot for example)
  • OPTIONAL - A fix for the dancing pot in the main atrium of High Hrothgar is available in the Downloads section - NOTE: this will probably only work on new games, or saves where you have yet to enter High Hrothgar, as the incorrect pot position will already stored in your save.

Please Note: While these textures are not recreated from scratch, they are not poor "enlarge and sharpen" treatments of vanilla textures either. They are reworked through a much more sophisticated process to add depth and detail without losing form and style. While starting with 4k original textures would be the ideal, as they stand they are a vast improvement over anything else I've found.

None - but they were designed to work alongside the official Bethesda Hi-Res DLC, so I would highly recommend that as a starting point.

Should be compatible with absolutely everything, except the one or two other mods that retexture High Hrothgar. I use a huge range of graphical mods and the only conflict I've found so far is with the Bethesda Hi-Res DLC, which this mod is designed to replace.
