Track the progress of Citizens of Skyrim, a lightweight NPC schedule overhaul here
I cannot thank Calfurius enough for making USLEEP and CRF compatible versions of the mod. Click this and go and give him kudos!
What it does
Self Preservation Society aims to make NPCs of Skyrim run away from battle in a script-free way. This is done by changing the confidence of an NPC from a high value to "Cautious" or "Cowardly". The reason NPCs rush to attack enemies is because their confidence is set to something like "Brave" or "Foolhardy". Bethesda decided this setting on the personality of the character, not considering the fact that citizens who have iron daggers and kids would rather run away than fight a group of bandits. I have manually changed this value of all the NPCs who either:
-Live in a settlement (e.g Honningbrew Meadery, Shor's Stone, Morthal, Windhelm)
-I deem fit for changing.
Because the changes are done manually, you won't get a person who is scripted to be a murderer run away from killing someone.

Does this render Run For Your Lives and When Vampires Attack useless?
Not at all. In fact I highly recommend using them. Alongside these two great mods by the venerable Arthmoor, my mod has even more functionality. His mods are scripted to come into action on specific occasions, and are a great solution for when they happen. Due to the nature of his mod, however, these scripts work for all NPCs. My mod simply changes the values of an NPC so they will run away instead of fight. This works in occasions like:
-A raid of spiders in Morthal
-Dragonborn deciding to wreak havoc
in a town
-Someone committing a crime and being hunted
-An NPC decides to travel to another place, a feature which I will be adding to some NPCs in Citizens of Skyrim

This will save you a lot of time worrying about NPC's dying from means other than dragons and vampires.

This doesn't change added NPCs because of its hand-done nature.
Most NPCs are set to "Cautious" meaning that they will only attack if they can surely win the fight. Meaning they won't run away from a skeever.

Installation
I have created a FOMOD installer, so install that. There are three different versions of the mod:
-USLEEP and CRF compatible edition, requires all DLC and these two mods
-USLEEP edition, requires all DLC and Unoffical Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch
-Vanilla edition, if you don't use these mods
Compatibilty
-If you use a mod which edits an NPC that I do, one mod will override the other in that case due to the "rule of one" issue that Bethesda has. It's not game breaking, but I'm looking to solve the problem.
-Compatible with all children mods - I don't edit children.
Changelog
1.00 - Release
1.10 - CRF and USLEEP compatible versions added
