This is an expansion of Random Alternate Start by Syclonix with fixes from Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch.

There are four versions available. Use only one at a time:

Random Alternate Start Reborn 1.1.1fixed - Re-released April 10th, 2016
  • Fixes the main menu bug from the initial release of Version 1.1.1.
  • Updates RAS with USLEEP fixes.
  • Streamlines --JawZ-- Wait Timer by setting the countdown timer messages to be every 30 seconds, rather than the original every 20 seconds, when selecting Wait Timers longer than 40 seconds.
  • Adds a brief message overview in each Class Kit selection window of what weapon, armor, clothing, and/or robe equipment types are randomly generated.
  • Adds in missing base armor pieces for fur, hide, leather, imperial, and iron, several basic robes, wooden bows (in addition to the previously included long bow), and a few early game melee weapons. This equipment is implemented to significantly expand the randomly generated possibilities for each Class, while keeping within the spirit of each Class Kit's skill/equipment specialties.
  • Updates all starting player equipment to use base Skyrim.esm/USLEEP FormID/EditorID records. This ensures functional cooperation of all starting equipment with any mods that check or edit those vanilla records.
  • Several Class Kits in previous RAS versions were set to often randomly generate clothing rather than armor. Those Class Kits still have a chance of randomly generating some or all clothing (although the new Class Kit equipment messages will let you know before you select them), but they now have a much higher chance of generating appropriate class armor than before. This is balanced for players who want to ensure a clothing only start through changes to the "None"/"No Class" option, which now has random clothing based "commoner" starting equipment if selected.
  • Many Class Kits in previous RAS versions weren't set up to be equipped with a head covering. Now every Class Kit gets a Class appropriate random hat or helmet. This helps balance RAS with cold weather survival mods like Frostfall.

Random Alternate Start Improved USLEEP Timer 1.1.0
  • Updates RAS with USLEEP fixes.
  • Includes --JawZ-- Wait Timer options to allow setting up MCM menus before randomly warping to a start location.
  • Edits starting player equipment, changing the weakened "worn" versions to normal base Skyrim equipment names and protection values for balancing RAS with mods that increase difficulty, such as Requiem.

Random Alternate Start USLEEP Timer 1.0.9
  • Updates RAS with USLEEP fixes.
  • Includes --JawZ-- Wait Timer options to allow setting up MCM menus before randomly warping to a start location.

Random Alternate Start USLEEP 1.0.8
  • Updates RAS with USLEEP fixes only.

If using a RAS Wait Timer version with Requiem - The Roleplaying Overhaul, use both "Random Alternate Start.esp" and "RAS - Riverwood CharGen.esp" in your load order to get the Requiem startup scripts to run effectively before warping locations.

All of the updated mod file names are identical to the original RAS files, so you should be able to replace them in your Mod Organizer load order without having to do any reconfiguration. Because all versions after 1.0.8 modify scripts, you are advised to start a new game after installing or upgrading them.

Thanks to Syclonix for permission to update RAS.

From the original RAS mod page (with updates):
DESCRIPTION:
Be anyone you want to be. Choose from 21 different loadouts then get randomly thrown somewhere in the vast land of Skyrim. Will you end up in the royal court of Solitude's magnificent Blue Palace or will you end up at the bottom of a dark, dank, necromancer-infested mine shaft and have to fight your way up to the surface? With 463 starting locations, you will never enter Skyrim the same way twice! What will your story be?

Random Alternate Start is even better when used with Character Creation Overhaul.

DETAILED FEATURE

  • Choose from 21 class starting kits each with it's own semi-random loadout.
  • Start in one of 463 locations in Skyrim.
  • The Main Quest thread can be picked up by investigating rumors of dragons near Helgen.
  • Very light footprint ensures clean integration with the main quest and maximum compatibility with other mods.
  • Best used alongside Character Creation Overhaul.

COMPATIBILITY:
Random Alternate Start is compatible with virtually all other mods, except for other alternate start/quickstart mods. Mods that alter the game's time scale may cause the "double menu bug". To prevent this, simply disable any time scale mods when starting a new game then re-enable them after your character has spawned into the world.

INSTALLATION:
Download using Nexus Mod Manager, or download manually and copy all files in the 'Data' folder to Skyrim's 'Data' folder then enable the 'Random Alternate Start.esp' file. Load order does not matter.

UNINSTALLATION:
To uninstall this mod, simply disable the 'Random Alternate Start.esp' file and delete all the related files from Skyrim's 'Data' folder.

KNOWN ISSUES:
  • If you run into Hadvar or Ralof they may bring up references to the dragon attack at Helgen as if you had been there.
  • If you experience crashing, hanged loading screens, continuous loading, or broken dialog for the Whiterun Gate Guard or Jarl Balgruuf you need to move the "Random Alternate Start.esp" to the bottom of your load order and/or disable the 'RAS - Riverwood CharGen.esp'.
  • Memory intensive hair mods can cause crashes at character generation.
  • Mods that alter the game's time scale may cause the "double menu bug". To prevent this, disable any time scale mods when starting a new game then re-enable them after your character has spawned into the world (Thanks akayo).

"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—-of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life." - 1 Timothy 1:15-16
