ALL DEVELOPMENT OF THIS MOD HAS CEASED ON OLD SKYRIM. DEVELOPMENT CONTINUES FOR SKYRIM SPECIAL EDITION AND THE LINK FOR THE MOD ON THE SSE NEXUS IS HERE

I made this mod for myself about two years ago, but never really felt the desire nor the need to put it on the nexus as I'm not a very good texture/mesh editor. However, since I promised some people on a forum I would, here it is.

This takes every shock spell currently existing in the game and gives them 4 new upgrades.

-- Base Spell (unchanged)
-- Enhanced Spell (Damage ++, Cost+)
-- Super Spell (Damage +++, Cost++)
-- Thunder King Spell (Damage ++++++, Cost+++)
-- Thunder-Flame King Spell (Damage +++++++, Cost++++, Fire Element+) <-- This is when your lightning turns red, by the way.

The spell tomes can be crafted at a new custom crafting station called the Spell Tome Upgrader. This is located deep within the bowels of a dungeon called the Thunderscarred Cave. To get started, travel north of Winterhold.

You cannot, at the beginning, level each spell all the way up to Thunder-Flame level. The recipes to unlock higher and higher level spells are earned as you unlock the Novice, Apprentice, Adept, etc. perks for the Destruction tree.

For example, Lightning Bolt is an apprentice level spell. Therefore, since it's base level starts at 25, you need level 50 in destruction (Adept Destruction Perk) to craft the Enhanced Lightning Bolt spell tome. Then, you need the Expert Destruction Perk to craft the Super Lightning Bolt spell tome. So on and so forth for all the spells. You need to have the perk matching that spell's level or higher, up to master, to craft the upgrades for that spell. It'll (hopefully) all make sense as you play the game.

Also, I made some new spells too.

Looping Circuit - Long cast time but once released it applies a 60 second long DoT to an enemy that constantly deals lightning damage.
Shockburst - Very high damage very high cost instant cast lightning bolt.

Both spells come with upgrades and can be crafted at the spell tome upgrader once you have the appropriate perks.

Now that that's all out of the way, here's the important part:

This mod is a mod I put many days of effort into to make look as nice as possible and work as flawlessly as possible. However, I got too busy with school to perfect this mod and make the textures and meshes look professional, so as a result, ANYONE WHO WANTS TO WORK ON THIS MOD MAY DO SO AND USE MY ASSETS AS THEY SEE FIT. Just kind of, you know, be like "Hey, this loser PhantomNX made some of the base assets, so go tell him he sucks. I made it better." In other words, just leave a slight credit. That's all I ask. If you don't, well I suppose I'll never find out, but whatever.

I know it's really late to be posting new mods in Skyrim's life, but I hope someone picks this up and makes what I've always dreamed about. I hope someone can one day fix the blue I wasn't able to turn red for the final level spells. So enjoy to anyone who wants this mod and may someone eventually get this mod into a more professional state! Be sure to let me know if you do improve it.

Required for balancing to work correctly: Balanced Magic

Thanks to anyone who actually read this far, cheers! Also, let me know as soon as possible in the comments about any kinds of bugs. Have fun!

Current Status: All is well!

Updates:

1.59 - Due in great thanks to zombiecurse's amazing talent, the most important issue of all has been fixed. Thunderbolt's and Shock Storm's (99% of it, at least) explosion art has finally been made red. The mod looks better than it ever has, and I've never been prouder of the state of my mod. In addition to this, some more blue was corrected along the way, and the inventory art for lightning-flame spells has had a HUGE buff in the red department. It looks freaking amazing now. Check it out, seriously!

This could not have been accomplished without zombiecurse's help, and great credit and thanks go to him. Once I get a custom look for the spell tome upgrader and do a couple other things I'll push out the final (maybe?) version of the mod, 1.6. I hope to be there soon. If you find any issues at all, please post them as soon as possible.

1.5 - Updated the inventory art for the red spells (a little, not a lot. It's still far from 100% perfect).
Updated all the spell descriptions to add a little more uniformity to their wording. I think it stays a lot more consistent now, reflective of the mod's current and more professional state.
Added Thunderscarred Cave and all the related components of that. I won't spoil anything here, but you can start by traveling north of Winterhold. From there I'll let you explore on your own.
Removed the Spell Tome Upgrader from Dragonsreach and is now instead located in Thunderscarred Cave. This makes more sense in the context of the mod.
Finally added Shock Cloak to the list of spells I've added upgrades for! It looks really cool >:3
A few sparse bug fixes.

1.4 - Added a new crafting station to the game to craft the spell tomes, completely separating Shock Spell Upgrades from smithing (yay!). This new crafting station is located in Dragonsreach, so unfortunately some conflict issues may now be present if you have any mods which modify the internal cell of Dragonsreach. This mod also utilizes generic crafting category #8 in the default objects list (this is mostly for you modders out there), so if you have mods that modify #8, please do not use this mod with your mod, as it will cause confliction issues.
In addition, some minor bug fixes were made.

Plans for 1.6 (The likely final version of the mod!):

1 - Create a custom look for the Spell Tome Upgrader.

3 - Add more life, lore, and 'stuff' to Thunderscarred Cave.

3 - Continue to find and fix bugs
