About this mod

Change your experience with Skyrim by adding some realism. With this mod your health, magicka and stamina won't regenerate so easily. As a matter of fact, they won't regenerate at all if you reach certain point. Now, to heal your wounds you will need to use some bandages.

NEW VERSION IS HERE!
Improved Injury and Recovery System now available to download!

DESCRIPTION:

This mod aims to add some realism to the game. Now when you reach certain level of your health, your attributes will regenerate slower or simply stop regenerating.
The mod adds three kinds of injuries:

  • Minor injuries - when your health is lower than 75% it starts to regenerate slower
  • Moderate injuries - when your health is below half it stops regenerating. Also your stamina and magicka regenerate slower and healing spells are much weaker
  • Serious injuries - when your health is below 25% stamina and magicka stop regenerating during combat and regenerate very slowly out of combat, plus you can't run after a fight. Healing spells are not effective when having serious injuries.
Minor and moderate injuries can be heal in any way. You can use potions, spells or bandages provided by mod. Serious injuries are not so easy to heal because healing potions have no effect on you in this state (except Potion of Ultimate Healing) and healing spells are too weak to treat so severe wounds. The best way is to use bandages added by this mod (or eat some food). Of course if you're good in Restoration you won't need so many of them. There are two kinds of bandages (actually three):

  • Small bandages (and small healing bandages) - regenerate health only for some time
  • Healing bandages: cuffs, armwraps etc. - bandages with fortifying enchantments. Cuffs and head bandages have weaker enchantments than other bandages, but can be used during combat, while healing armwraps, tunic and shoewraps have stronger enchantments but don't work during combat. You can use all of the bandages at once for better effect.
You can buy small bandages from any alchemist and sometimes from general merchants, and healing bandages from court wizards. Colette from College Of Winterhold is the only person who sells both type of bandages. You can also craft them by yourself. To make small bandages you don't need any special skills, but to craft healing bandages you need restoration perks. To make:

  • small bandage you need tundra cotton (using tanning rack or survival skills if you're using Chesko's Campfire or Frostfall)
  • small healing bandage you need small bandage and poultice or vampire dust (using cooking pot or Survival Skills)
  • poultice you need garlic or juniper berry or blue mountain flower (using cooking pot, grinding wheel or grinding bowl if you're using Solar's Portable Crafting) - you can also use it to heal wounds if you happened to be out of bandages :P
To make:
  • Healing head bandage and cuffs you need Novice Restoration Perk - they can be used during combat
  • Healing armwraps, shoewraps and healing tunic you need Apprentice Restoration Perk - they have no effect when wearing during combat
To craft healing bandages you need leather stripes and clean linen which you can get by boiling linen wrap in cooking pot. Craft using tanning rack or Survival Skills if you have Chesko's Frostfall or Campfire.

I recommand to use this mod along with
Death Alternative  or SM Essential Player for even better experience, and Harvest Overhaul.

Using with Death Alternative:

If you've ever used this mod, you should know that after BleedOut you gain Bleeding penalty, and after BlackOut - Near Death Experience and after that Bleeding penalty. Poultices and small bandages won't work during Near Death Experience and Bleeding in Hardcore Mode (unless you use a lot of them at once), and during Bleeding are less effective (depending on what DAYMOYL difficulty you chose). Healing bandages work in every state, but are 50% less effective during Near Death Experience.

REQUIREMENTS:
Skyrim.esm

INSTALLATION:
First you need to decide which version you need. Then just copy to Data folder.

UPDATE:
It's always the best to start the new game with a new version of a mod. But according to my test it should be fine to replace old file with a new one. First get rid of all of the items added by the mod you have in your inventory and make sure none of the injuries effects are active. Then save the game in a new slot, quit the game, deactivate InRecSystem.esp, load previously saved game and save it again. Close the game. Go to:
Data-->Meshes-->clothes-->bandages and delete following:
- armwrapgnd.nif
- cuffsgnd.nif
Data-->Textures-->clothes-->bandages and delete following:
- armwrapcraft.dds
- armwrapcraft_n.dds
- armwrapmod.dds
- cleanlinen.dds
- cleanlinen1.dds
- clothesmod.dds
- clothesmod1.dds
- clothesmod1_n.dds
- flowerblu.dds
- garlicsal.dds
- headwrapcraft.dds
- headwrapcraft_n.dds
- headwrapmod.dds
- ingredientbowl.dds
- junisalv.dds
- leathercuffsmod.dds
- shoesmod.dds
- smallbandage.dds
- smallbandageblue.dds
- smallbandagedust.dds
- smallbandagegar.dds
- smallbandagegreen.dds
Data folder and delete InRecSystem.esp
Now install new version of the mod, run LOOT aaaand done.
